Gasp! Did I just get a notification for a DF Humble Bundle?!?!

89 posts in this topic

This has got to be the greatest thing....EVER!!!

This is going to be the first Humble Bundle that I put the max amount to the Developer only.... :)

http://www.humblebundle.com/

Games include:

Costume Quest (An absolute favorite of mine... TY DF!)

Psychonauts

Stacking

Brutal Legend

Broken Age ($35+)

T-Shirt ($70+)

I own all these games on multiple platforms but I am still going to do this for the support and especially the soundtracks!

Happy Days!

I want the shirt, but um, $70 is too much.

I also own all of the games already.

I have most of Doublefine's games and gear. The only thing I really want is THAT PINT GLASS. Why do I not see one in the store?

I think the additional $35 for the shirt would be more palatable if it included a set (2 or 4) of the pint glasses.

Overall, I think $35 is a wonderful price for all those games, assuming you own 0 to 2 of them. I agree with the previous posters that $35 is silly for a shirt, even a limited edition one. Unfortunately, like others, I already own all of the games and the listed soundtracks in one form or another, which, from my perspective, makes the shirts cost closer to $70 each. And I just heard back from Humble Bundle's support department saying that I'd have to make two separate orders to get both shirts. $140 for two shirts? What kind of sense does that make?

This kind of illustrates my opinion that, while I love Humble Bundle and the service they provide, their business model of forcing people to re-buy games several times in order to get over-priced swag appears broken. It's instances like this that really make me appreciate how some Kickstarter campaigns will let you purchase various bits of swag a la carte.

I would love to help, but I juiced all my money.

Edit: Ok, ok, I have some assets... liquidating them... damn it!

I just read the mail. Wow, do I really get DRM-free .exe file of Brutal Legend (no 3rd party client, no online authorisation for single-player game, etc.) if I pay more than BTA?

EDIT: Bought. The HB introduction video was that convincing. :D

Currently $8.11 or more gets you Brutal Legends and everything before it.

With respect to the shirts, bear in mind that they include international shipping. We had to factor in the fact that we'll be getting orders from all over the world, and kind of average out the cost burden, since it wasn't possible to do per-order calculated shipping.

There's a DRM-free version of Brutal Legend but unfortunately it doesn't have multiplayer because the entire game's multiplayer infrastructure relies on Steam (didn't make sense to invest in our own from scratch). It's not a DRM decision, it's an infrastructure decision--Valve has great infrastructure for that stuff. But you can play the entire SP campaign DRM-free!

Lucky for me, the only game I already had was Psychonauts, and I had been planning on picking the rest up anyway. No way I was going to miss out on this. Plus, that ad had me more than convinced.

I think just about all of us have multiple copies of the games. Do it to show your support for Double Fine and Broken Age!

I could stomach $35 for the shirt, problem is it would cost $70 to get it and it would be $70 because I own all the games already (some of them more than once), so there's no value for me there.

So, as much as I would like it, it's just too expensive for me.

I'm glad for this bundle, as I missed out on the Double Fine Adventure Kickstarter. Indeed, I only ever heard of Kickstarter after I heard of the smashing success of Double Fine Adventure.

Maybe due to licence issues but somehow The Cave is missing in this one or it will be added later on.

Hmm, if the shirt design doesn't change it might be due to the first reason or the release dates are just a placeholder.

My guess is that while Double Fine has IP rights to The Cave, it's likely that Sega has distribution rights, at least for the time being.

Yes but i wonder if SEGA might be interested in certain percentage of those sales or if it has some marketing value for them. Games also continue to sell after a hib campaign. Looking from a gamer's perspective it's certainly missing.

I don't play multiplayer games, so it's perfect for me. Thanks for clarifying :).

Congrats on a successful first 16 hours! If people kept the default distributions amounts the same (~65% to DF), you've made about $300,000 already! Woo hoo! I had already bought the games through steam a while ago, but am very happy to see them now on Linux (my primary OS). Preliminary testing shows them all running just fine (Nvidia Optimus with GeForce GT 630M with 1GB Video RAM).

Why not pay the lower amount for the Soundtracks?

I have yet to see a Humble Bundle that has not added a game or two to the mix of games half way through the sale. If something is missing there is a good chance it may show up later as a bonus.

Honestly, any video that comes from Double Fine is pure gold to me. Nintendo banked off it's Pokemon show...Double Fine could easily keep attention to it's company by keeping the videos going even after Broken Age releases. Please Double Fine don't end the magic!

The only thing I'm missing from this bundle is the shirt.

Mind you, I do think the pricing is reasonable, as an owner of everything else already it doesn't work for me. Just leaves me a disappointed I'll miss out on a nifty shirt.
