  1. thats very interesting i think islam has a similar system, at least the "son of" system "?" what happens when they marry in iceland? do they keep their names then?
  2. because I asked this: "seriously, are you just trolling now?", I'm calling people names? thats the best you came up with? ok, i reported the messages which you could almost label hatespeech.
  3. well, it felt definitely different to me... in theory you can criticize, in practice its pretty much a feminist echo chamber. and yes thats my criticism right here. I hope that you're referring to other threads/forums, because in this one you haven't been banned for your contributions and everybody who's replied to you has actually engaged with the points you were trying to make - even when you resorted to namecalling and passive aggressive sarcasm (which are discussion tactics that should be avoided in this thread). If anybody has criticism of this forum's moderation or general community attitudes, the best way to express that is via email or PM to Spaff (Double Fine's community manager), who can take that feedback onboard and address it with the moderation team where appropriate. sarcasm, yes, but when did I resort to namecalling?? I was called names in the course of this thread, maybe you should check that before accusing me of such thing.

  5. so your argument is "you are wrong wrong wrong"? well have it your way, i don't care anymore.
  6. well, this paints a crystal clear picture of you. (you're doing feminism a big favor with these immature statements, no doubt) if you are not here to discuss things or try to convince anyone, then simply stop - If you are just here to threaten and post your condescending statements, be my guest, but please remove the word "Discussion" from the thread title. Tell me, derOesi. What is your understanding of feminism? You want to have a discussion, a real discussion, let's establish a baseline for the conversation ahead. to be honest I'd rather talk about gender equality and not feminism (which was tainted a lot in the recent years in my opinion - well we can talk about that if you don't share this opinion). but to get back on topic, 1 2 [(and my wife doesn't either)], there are 3 [FAR worse examples of overly sexualized women] in gaming (and film btw.) the "tits are hanging out" like someone stated earlier is way to exaggerated, it's simply a attractive young women with a bit of cleavage 4 [(which is shown in public all the time.. and why shouldn't it be? we have left the Inquisitorial system long ago, thank god)] So in essence... I think that this kind of 5 [hyper sensibility will negatively effect everybody in the long run.] Developers and gamers (including women). All The Things You're Doing Wrong, summed up neatly: 1) "I didn't think it was wrong, so it must not be" 2) "My black/female/disabled/etc friend thinks its okay, so they are obviously speaking for that entire demographic", and is therefore a free pass for 1 3) "Other people have it worse, so you can't complain!" 4) Equating female characters with real life people. "Videogame pixels are independent women who CHOSE to dress this way, how dare you chastise them!" No developers, possibly male, had a hand in specifically designing them this to be this way. No siree 5) "You just need to get over it, it's not that bad! How dare you feel the way you do!!" seriously, are you just trolling now?

  9. it is not what you say, it is the way you say it. did you ever have a constructive discussion this way?
  10. Hi. 1) Shut the hell up forever about "what women like" if you are not a woman. Do not ever try to speak for a woman's interest and what you think she does or should find appealing. You have no right to even assume. Stop. 2) No, because I am a woman AND I actually talk to other women who play games, many of them dislike the Big Bara Bodies male characters typically have. Both because they are aware of the impossible standards of body image this presents, as well as them just not having a preference for this. Many of them, myself included, think the slightly, older, fit, scruffy, brooding, brown-haired dude with Typical Male Model Face is boring as fuck Obviously there ARE women out there who have a type that Big Bara Bodies fulfill but I can guarantee you, if there is a variation in body types, more women gravitate towards those lanky wispy elfy dudes. 3) If you're going to just do this winky sly bullshit and not try to debate in earnest, then don't. I, nor anyone who has ever had even the most basic exposure to these arguments and counter arguments wanna have this dreary boring debate AGAIN about why you're wrong and your arguments are bad tl;dr if you don't have any foundation in any kind of feminist theory, leave. If you don't want to learn and want me to explain it to you, leave. I don't want to explain this to you. I don't care about you as a person and your personal development and growth and making you a "better ally". If you want to be a better ally, do the goddamn homework yourself Participate at your own risk, walk on eggshells if you're new to this and prepare to feel bad. I do not care about the comfort levels of anyone who in any small, even unintentional way is helping to prop up the shitty standards we have now. I am not here to hold your hand and gently nudge your thinking at the expense of my enjoyment of these forums tl;dr condescending and hateful. admins?
  11. ok, I see it doesn't make sense to argue with you on that point obviously women don't find half naked / strong men sexy. have a nice, offended day then.
  12. lol, well thats a moot point, male characters are despicted over muscular / sexy in games all the time... so yes it's pretty much (almost ) like the picture you posted googled for LoL male characters, but (since i never played it) i can't say for sure this is game art. but here you go. http://img.neoseeker.com/v_image.php?type=news&articleid=22873ℑ=15 http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xnwZGHw5DF0/UNXijITR6zI/AAAAAAAAFgg/zN9anDIaeyY/s1600/Classic+Chinese+Tryndamere.jpg hypocrisy to say the least.
  13. Spaff, smart move to post some food to discuss there is for sure a lot of dirt in this reddit thread but this comment made me laugh ----- "Covering up her breasts is ok. But the amount of cloth added everywhere and that face really takes away from her aestethic. Why do the boots need to be THIS big and the shoulder pads? Plus her hair couldn't be more generic "I am 50 years old" style. And pls let her be a young fighter duelist. Keep the old face. It's much more visually pleasing." >> Wait, I'm confused. Do you want the old face or the old face? >>> Yes. ---- I personally don't find the old outfit that bad or terribly over sexualized, women often show some cleavage on TV and even in real life Joss Whedon might agree on this one.... http://www.scifinow.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Buffy-The-Vampire-Slayer-film.jpg
  14. ok, I stand corrected then never have heard someone using it (at least in germany), well except in winnetou so I never thought of it as being offensive.
