  1. Don't lose too much sleep over this, I have a feeling that my worst fear is probably true (that my computer's too old to run the game), but I thought I'd ask anyway. I bought the Cave the day it came out and have been trying to get it to work since then, but have been too stubborn to ask for help. NOTICE: I was a huge Lucasarts adventure game fan, but once Curse of Monkey Island came out, my 386 couldn't take it anymore, so I was forced to go to a friends house to play COMI - Grim Fandango. So although I'm a master at DOS, I am fairly inept with computer's these days, after abandoning PC's as a gaming system and jumping ship to consoles. So you'll have to spell things out to me as if I were a smart monkey. Anyway, I get through the Sega screen, the Double Fine screen (the mouse can move this whole time), and the Steam, you can chat with other players, pop up. Once the loading screen comes up (which, depending on how I fiddled with the drivers, swirls at various speeds and smoothness) goes to the BSOD, and crashes my computer. I have never seen the press enter screen, or the options menu. Nothing past "loading." Down to Brass Tax: I have a Dell Vostro 1400, with intel core 2 duo, running on XP, with a intel GMA X3100 Graphics adapter (I know, not good). Anyway, if you care to check, these are basically the schematics: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Dell-Vostro-1400-Notebook.7316.0.html So I rebooted, reinstalled (manually) Direct X and the Visual ++ redistributables, updated the drivers (I think), most of the other things on the FAQ, downloaded the patch, stopped all other programs that might be interfering, checked the Game cache, and to no avail. I think I know the answer to this, but I'm hoping there's a possibility that I might be able to enjoy this game on my computer.
