  1. I use a Dvorak keyboard layout, but Headlander seems to assume Qwerty. Also, my PS1 controller on USB adapter doesn't work. The controller works perfectly in DOTT. Is this a bug, by design, or am I missing something?

    Game won't launch :(

I purchased the non steam version from Humble. Took me a while to get it working. The redistributables included were 32bit only. I had to find the 64bit ones. The VC++ has already been mentioned. I also needed the DirectX one: DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010)
  3. I have a dedicated gaming computer now that is mainly for retro gaming, but has more than enough power for Headlander.
  4. At last I get to play this game. I've been waiting for DRM free. Shame it never appeared on Linux. Sigh.
  5. Al least, after they've been told we want a DRM free release. Oh, and tell 'em how upset the Linux users are.
  6. This is the first DF game that I've been truly looking forward to playing and now I guess I never will. I don't own a PS4, there won't be a Linux version, and the Windows version isn't DRM free.

I'm guessing Headlander is 32bit. Are you using a 64bit OS? If so, you'll need 32bit run-time libraries.
  8. Not slowing down. But my laptop is getting rather hot. I've noticed Grim Fandango does the same thing.
  9. I've just starting playing the Remastered version on Linux, so I'm a little late to the party. After switching the cigar lighter, the salesman should say "I don't get it!" before Bernard takes the cigar out of his mouth. But not in the Remastered version. Also, I've noticed some speech lines are in a different order from the original. Such as: Sure, lay one of those Havanan babies on me. Sorry, my mom told me never to smoke. That's maybe too pedantic though. Or is it? I have the option to have commentary when I start a new game, but I can't turn it on or off by pressing A. And a couple of gripes: 1. Why is the display in a slight letter-boxed look? (Black bars top & bottom) 2. The inventory tab in the bottom-left appears too easily. As Hoagie, to walk to the path brings the mouse cursor close enough to invoke the tab. 3. I can't re-define the controls 4. I'd rather not be asked about commentary at the start of the game. Just let me turn it on/off during play.
  10. What kind of system are you running there? Dell XPS L702X laptop - Intel i7-2860QM 2.5GHz quad core - nVidia GeForce GT555M Debian Jessie 64bit (vanilla)
  11. Although I can't get it to work. I've emailed doublefine support about the issue but no reply yet. The logs show that libfmod wasn't found. This library ships with the game, but there's no mention in the readme.txt about it or if I'm supposed to do something with it. Sigh. EDIT: Ok, it does work but no sound. It still complains about "Unable to initialize FMOD: File not found" Just to clairfy, that's not FMOD not being found, that's FMOD not being able to find a file (in this case most likely 32 bit audio libs). The instructions in the readme are for Ubuntu's packaging, and libalut0 pulls in libpulse0 or whatever is appropriate for your system. I think I got queried regarding your issue (or someone with a similar issue) a few hours after release and shot some advice back. I reckon that you'd probably still be able to get it running with Testing, but if you're up and running now, that's all good. As for CPU usage, is that primarily during cutscenes or do you experience that during normal gameplay as well? Thanks for the info. CPU usage is high at anytime. 1 x CPU @ 100% on program startup, then 2 x CPU's @ 100% once a game is started/loaded.
  12. Actually, it turned out to be my fault. It doesn't work with Debian Testing. Works fine with Jessie. But there is some heavy CPU usage. 100% usage in fact over 2 CPU's (of 8) during play. Phew! Now that's not right. Fan's working overtime.

    Platform availability

Is there any news as to whether it will be DRM free?
