  1. I apologize to our European fans. I know that the Costume Quest 2 team is upset about this too. We worked hard to finish the game on the date we were told to finish it in order to release on time and it still ended up being delayed.

Thank you for all your efforts, eventually there was no different date for the European release, just a lot of misinformation due to the lack of info about the consoles release on the official pages

  2. the only thing I would rivisit is the combat system, timing quick time events go stale very soon IMO, when a fight triggers always gives me the feeling to be a boring and repetitive interruption from the real game, good thing keeping the stamps as tricks and power ups, but perhaps a deeper fighting system wouldn't hurt

  3. so no actual release from PSN yet?

Double Fine's official Twitter account just stated it was live on the PSN now.

    confirmed, here's the link https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/en-us/games/costume-quest-2/cid=UP1012-NPUB31549_00-COSTUMEQUEST0000

let's see if the 360 one really comes out tomorrow, haven't seen any official word yet though

I have both the XB1 and the PS4 but I would rather play it on the XB1 due to the controller. I've waited this long, I might as well wait until tomorrow...

I only have the 360 so I have no choice, another thing, I see there's no CQ2 yet on the european psn site, aren't games supposed to be region free now?

The European PSN store releases their games on different days than the North American store, and they also have a different certification process as well so it's not tied in with the North American release at all unfortunately. Hopefully Sony Europe will be releasing the game soon (they release their games on Wednesdays and Fridays, so hopefully it will be coming some time this week, although I haven't heard any official news on release dates - but the console manufacturers have been known to set their dates at the last minute, so there's still a chance).

looks like it's out in the european xbox live store, gonna get it now, finally!!!

  5. I don't know if I missed it somewhere, seems like there's not date for the 360 release yet, or is it implied that it's due out on the 28th as well? (honestly I don't care too much about the exclusive costume)
Microsoft hasn't yet set a date for the Xbox versions. It won't be out on the 28th (Microsoft releases games on XBLA on different days than Sony does with PSN), but hopefully it will be around the same timeframe.

yeah cause there's not much time left, let's hope to learn something tomorrow and get the xbox version within the 30th max

  6. I hope this doesn't negatively affect the game's sales too much. Hopefully, I am in the minority with wanting to play it on my console and that most of DF's sales come from Steam. First game was so great and I am ready for the sequel.

It's not Halloween yet; there's still time!

it'll be halloween in 10 days, and if it has to be out within halloween I really doubt they still have no date nor cert, it makes no sense to announce a console game the very day it comes out, the all thing makes me believe the console port will be out after halloween which is ridiculous

  7. Hey guys, all the console ports are just waiting to make it through cert. Once that happens we'll have a date! And yeah, we're working on a big overhaul on the game page, so the live one has fallen a bit behind. Working on an update there now though! As for the CQ2 site, that's Midnight City's and they have a new version ready to go live once we're ready to go live with the console stuff.

Thank you, I hope it''ll be out before Halloween though, otherwise it wouldn't make sense

  8. To be fair most gamers get their news from gaming/news hubs not from the developers' websites.
That is no excuse; a developer's website should be the foremost, canonical source for information on a game.

Agree, again, people don't go all out to find "possible confirmations" on forums, they just stick to the websites which is supposed to give out all the major details, on forums you just write comments or speculations after you got all the details aforementioned. Honestly I don't think it takes so long and efforts to add the console logos on the web site, as for the release date I'm pretty sure they already have a precise date, it'll be halloween in 18 days, unless they plan to release it on the next year (which is pointless in the case of CQ2) they must already know whether it's gonna be out a couple of days before the 31st or the very halloween day, so c'mon DF, don't be lazy, update the site and add all this info, you're going to benefit a lot more if you do since CQ is not that popular around gamers

  9. There are two specific things going on here, the way I see it:

    - DF needs to get the word out more or in different ways (not necessarily a release date, but simple confirmation about what the game is coming out on and the fact that there *isn't* a release date yet), as current information sources and advertising that's at least effective enough to let people know about the game aren't getting the message across effectively.

    - Those interested in the game itself aren't being as observant or resourceful/self-sufficient as they could be.

This, although there are only 18 days to halloween if you check both websites there's hardly some information about this sequel, let alone the platforms it's going to be on, not many people have time or knowledge to search on forums (provided that what it's written on forums is 100% true and not just speculations), adding logos on the main website and even a TBA if they're not sure themselves about the precise release date is way far more official and believable than just reading forums or rumors in third parties sites, that's me, and I've been a long time player and news hunter on the net and forums, probably getting oldish to spend too much time on forums and searching for hidden details

  10. I wonder why neither the CQ2 web site nor the double fine one mentioned the consoles release, or at least I haven't found anything about it

I imagine it will be added once they have a solid release date to announce.

normally they officially confirm all the platforms the game is going to be out for, and if they don't have a solid release date they just put a TBA after them, the way it appears now it seems as if they don't plan to release it for consoles, as if the consoles release is only a rumor...

They've announced over and over again that it'll be out on PS3, PS4, 360, XBox One and Wii U. They've said it'll be out by halloween. They've also said here and elsewhere that they'll be able to announce dates once they're through certification on all the platforms.

In fact, a DF staff member said those platforms in the post just above yours, earlier. How does it appear like the console releases are a rumour?

it appears that they should add logos on the website, not just chitty chatting on a forum, I don't come here often, I don't even know who the staff members are and how they really count in the games development

  12. I'll be soon 34, yet I consider CQ more entertaining than most of the games available of this gen, I really hope double fine will think it over and eventually make a sequel or another DLC which wraps up the cliffhanger ending of grubbins on ice at least, whether Tasha is in or out. Hopefully for the next Halloween, but even an X-mas based CQ would be cool.
