Oh man, you guys have no idea how fun the pot throwing tech is already. Magic going on over here!!
  2. More teams joining AF2017

Yeah sames! Ever since the Community team started jamming alongside us we've always wanted to figure out a way to get more game dev pals involved in the funtimes. Glad it's happening!!

Thanks for voting y'all! Was close!

I'd definitely want to make sure each run has something significant happen from a story perspective. In some cases that would be something conversational between you and the person you're sharing the boat with, but sometimes it may be more action focused or an event in the world around you. I do think most would be pretty dialog light though. Games sure can tend to talk too much these days. I'd like to have a solo mode option with no partner too which would illuminate all dialog and storylines that would need that. I'd think the major branches in the river/path would hold the more significant story moments, but I'd like the other systems to add a ton of variety in the details and scenery. No two trips down the river ever feel quite the same and I'd like to reflect that. Hoping to give a ton of replay value so folks can use it to relax or take a virtual trip when the real thing isn't possible.

Hey dudes, thanks for watchin! Yeah I imagine we'd do something slightly stylized first person, along the lines of a Firewatch. For the kayaking sections (which is what we'd focus on in AF), I was thinking we'd use the left and right triggers to control paddles like you would a kayak. So paddling on the right turns left and paddling on the left turns right, with a current slowly pulling you forward. For VR, it would be the same, but with motion controllers! And yes Cheese, kayaking/hiking and generally exploring outdoors is one of my favorite things. I make numerous trips a year up north to the Russian River area, which is goooooooorgeous. Always imagined it would take inspiration from that (and would want to take my team up there for a day)!
  6. Day of the Devs 2016 - Nov 5th!

YESSSS, please come y'all! Look at all these rad games!!
  7. Woooooo purty new forums! Spaff for the win!
  8. Hey guys, sorry for the delay it's been crazy busy with the campaign and holidays coming up. To those asking about the ability to upgrade pledge without canceling and starting over, Fig is working on that functionality. In fact today they added the ability to select more add-ons after you've already pledged. We're hopeful they can also get bundle upgrades in before the end of the campaign, but aren't sure on that timeline. until then you can always cancel your bid and select a new tier from scratch. As for another key, we'll talk it over, but you can always create an account for your friend and back at the $40 tier in the meantime. Thanks y'all!
  9. Hey guys, just wanted to clear up any confusion in case there are backers in here that don't have access to the backer forums and just aren't aware. The backer forums are actually just above this one on the main forum page. Perhaps you are a backer and don't see them? If that's the case, it's mostly likely because your DF forum email does not match your Kickstarter email. That's how we search our database grant access to backers. If this is the case, just go to your control panel and click email settings to change your email account to your Kickstarter email. If you already have done that and still have issues, just shoot us a message on Kickstarter and I'll get you taken care of. Thanks!!!!! EDIT: Please note that it takes several hours for our system to authenticate you. Please wait a day before contacting us. Thanks!
  10. Hey all! I hope everyone is excited for the Act 1 release tomorrow! We're planning on cutting together a montage of backer videos to promote the game when it's publicly released. This time we're thinking it would be cool to get your reactions to Broken Age Act 1. So if you’d like to participate in that, feel free to upload video of yourself speaking about the game to YouTube, and link it in this thread! All we ask is you don’t get spoilery. Remember most folks won't have played the game at this point. Thanks again for all the support! Cant' wait to hear what you think!
  11. Whoa, hexipal cake?!

We got that made at a place called Noe Valley bakery in SF!
  12. Broken age sales numbers ?

We don't get a really great grasp on sales numbers across the board until around a month out, but we're really pleased with how it's doing! PlayStation and iOS sales were particularly strong at Act 2 launch! Hoping to eventually share a bit more insight into how sales have gone down the road once things have settled out. And hoping to keep getting those nice features and good reviews!!
  13. Did you see that thread about controller support I just made? Well, we also pushed touch support live! As is the case with controller stuff, this is still in beta so you may run into some untranslated lines of text or general issues. Let us know what you find here!
  14. It starts by playing that cutscene again and then should go right into the Act 2 content!
  15. How is this so close? Vertical is obviously the correct choice.
  16. Greetings dearest backers! As many of you will have seen already, we’ve announced that the full Broken Age adventure, Acts 1 & 2 combined, will be coming to PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, Ouya, PS4 and PS Vita on April 28th! (Although PlayStation platform release dates may vary depending on the local store update times) That’s only One. Month. Away. Say Whaaatttt? Exciting times are the times we are now living in! You won’t have to do anything special to get Act 2, it will be added as a free update to Act 1. So if you have it installed already, it should patch in and you’ll be good to go! Cross Save Broken Age also support cross save across many platforms, so if you’ve completed Act 1 on PC, Mac, or Linux, you’d be able to continue your game on your iOS or Android device through Dropbox cloud saves if you so wished. PS4 and PS Vita have their own separate cross save system as well. IGN Act 2 Sneak Peek Last week Tim took Broken Age Act 2 over to the IGN offices (which are handily just around the corner) and sat down with Marty Sliva to play through the first 12 minutes of the game. If you can’t wait any longer to see what’s in store for Shay and Vella, and you don’t mind a few light spoilers (we made sure to hold back all puzzles), then go check out IGN’s 12 minute preview (Warning: again, spoilers). Broken Age Box art, by Cory Schmitz The physical box release for Broken Age is making it’s way through the manufacturing plants as we speak with a classy box art design by our good friend Cory Schmitz. The box will feature a transparent slip case with Shay and Vella on it, which means you can choose who sits at the bottom or the top, and it’s suuuuuuuuuuper purty. Check it out here with the slip case removed... Please note that this is NOT the $100+ backer reward box, which is going to be a whole bunch bigger, and obviously even cooler. That will be based on this design, but we’re waiting for the documentary to wrap up before we start making that, since that will be included. No, this is the physical box that will be for general release. Pillars of Eternity Lastly, our good friends at Obsidian are releasing their crowdfunded game Pillars of Eternity today, and we wanted to give them a big ol’ high five! Made by the same talented folks who made South Park: The Stick of Truth, and Fallout: New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity launches today on PC, Mac and Linux, go take a look! http://buy.pillarsofeternity.com/ Thanks everyone!

  18. Soooooooo, we’ve got something exciting to tell you all. WE JUST LOCKED THE BROKEN AGE RELEASE CANDIDATE!! After a solid month of pure bug squashing we have a build that’s looking super duper polished and ready to roll. Big props to the entire team for absolutely killing it and delivering something that really is everything we hoped it would be and more. I know it’s been a long wait, so thanks again for being so patient with us and allowing us to take the time we needed to make the game as good as possible! So now what?! The build will sit in test for the next week while everyone on the team looks for any remaining issues that may have slipped through the cracks. Then it’s off to PlayStation 4 and Vita certification as well as pressing discs for the PC/Mac/Linux retail copy from our pals at Nordic Games. Those processes can take around a month, during which time we’ll be packaging up and prepping the iOS, Android, and Ouya builds so we can hit with everything on the same day! Speaking of the release date.... Release Date Announce and IGN Coverage We’re going to announce the release date next week as part of a bunch of coverage that IGN is going to be running on the game throughout the week! It will all be on the front page of IGN, so keep an eye out for that news, as well as an interview with Tim and preview coverage of Act 2! Should be an awesome way to kick off formal promotion of the game’s release! Documentary Update Now that we’ve locked the build, the 2 Player Productions guys are pretty much done with filming for the next episode, save a few interviews. It’s just a matter of locking down the cut and doing an audio pass before the next episode is in your inboxes. That should hit around the time of launch in a month or so! We’ll make sure to get the new episode to you guys first, but it’s been really awesome to have more folks watching and talking about the game through the public release of the doc! Please let your non-backers friends know they can join in on the fun now over on .Toejam and Earl Lastly, we just wanted to give one more shoutout to our friends at Humanature Studios that are in the final stretch of their Kickstarter for a new Toejam and Earl! They’re allllllllmost there with just 5 days to go, so let’s head on over to their Kickstarter page and give them that final push they need to make it a reality!
  19. We have been prepping a Kickstarter announcement with the release date and that will go out today!
  20. Broken Age Build lockdown!

  21. Yeah the IGN exclusive was a way for us to secure an entire week's coverage on the largest gaming site. That's highly invaluable when it comes to exposure for the game. We've been really transparent throughout this whole process over the past three years, and even let you guys know this was going to happen. The press are always just going to want some exclusive content to give a game that kind of placement. As for the game being done and just sitting around. That's not entirely true, it's just that those builds that have to go through cert and be pressed to discs have a longer lead time and needed to get rolling first. We still have the Android/iOS/Ouya builds left, which is being worked on now. We're also continuing to test, so any new bugs that are found and fixed in the next month will make their way into the PC and PS4 builds. We've scheduled it all out so this can all hit on the same day, which will allow us to leverage any hype and press we're able to drum up across all platforms. I know a month feels like an eternity, but y'all have been so patient, so hopefully you can wait just a bit longer!
  22. Yeah we actually put a lot of effort into making sure there weren't any major spoilers in there for people who have played Act 1. Even for those who haven't played Act 1 and may have watched, we really made sure to find sections that would spoil how the major beat at the end of Act 1 fully went down. And yeah no puzzle solutions. Pretty safe if you're interested, and remember there are hours and hours of this left! But yeah, almost, here so if you can wait, wait!
  23. Hey all, happy 2015! LOTS of big milestones being hit by the Broken Age team in the past month, so let’s just take a second to hear Tim rattle them all off in video form! mnY0TdkXZwI And for the video-averse, a summary: -All dialog is written -All English voice is recorded -All German voice is recorded -All dialog and voice is implemented -PlayStation 4 and Vita are up and running -Gameplay programming is locked -External QA testing has begun -Nordic Games retail box art by Cory Schmitz is done, looks awesome, and is at the printers. OH MAN we’re getting there! What this means is we’re preeeeeeetty much at beta these days. The brunt of the remaining beta work left on the game is to finish up all the final cutscene animation now that we have final voice, and then the visual effects and audio work that follows. The game is in a highly playable state now, and we’ve been doing a bunch of playtesting both with employees at DF and developer friends outside the studio, which continues to be really encouraging! Now we’re in that final stretch of polishing things up and pushing that bug countdown to zero! It’s a really exciting time. We now can see the full picture of the game we’re going to ship and are able to make small tweaks that really affect the quality of the experience. The good news is that we’re already excited about what we have, and these next few months of polish and bug fixing should allow us to ship something we’re super super proud of. Can’t wait to get the rest of the game into your hands! This also has us looking forward a bit to the remaining rewards left to ship. Here’s a handy dandy breakdown on where we are with all of those things!: That’s it for now! You can expect another documentary episode in the weeks prior to launch and more project updates as we hit major milestones. Until then, hopefully you can keep yourselves busy with Grim! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH GRIM FANDANGO REMASTERED IS OUT!!!!!!!!
