  1. Eh, when I first heard this plan I was a bit.. skeptical? I mean I can't lie, it is a bit of a shame when you think about it since we are the backers of adventure- the ones who are along for the ride- releasing a reward for free seems a bit... eh. But then I got thinking- I am damn sick and tired of all the people online putting words in my mouth over my backing of this project. Time and time again people act like all us backers are so upset- betrayed- that the project is dead and that we are to be pittyed of some ahem for backing. Well you know what? Screw them. I was happy when the scope increased- I was happy when Tim promised to make the second act more difficult even if it would take more time- I was HAPPY with act one. I am pretty damn satisfied. Sure it has taken longer then we would all have expected but if the product is good who cares? Sure- what happened with spacebase was a pain, but I hardly see that one mistake warranting all this bile to be spewed over THIS project. So yeah- release the documentary for everyone- Anything to stop people from putting words in our mouths anymore. I have loved the documentary episodes- I have loved the game so far- and if this is what it takes to show the rest of the world what I have seen? Go for it. So long as the DVD/Bluray set is good enough and with enough special features I honestly don't see the problem with them seeing the series itself. I backed to get an adventure game, I backed to get the documentary, I didn't back for people to pity me when THEY consider the project isn't going as well as they think (despite them never even seeing the inside look). Go ahead and release, I hope it changes some minds.
  2. Another person with a blu ray here thinking that it is a shame that you can't put the sidequests even on the blu ray. I would gladly sacrifice the quality for a complete version... but then again that may be seen as unfair to the DVD only backers (though honestly- how many people at this point are actually going to get dvds?) Hell- maybe if it didn't cost too much you could just make a seperate second DVD for sidequests? Or.. you know maybe not. I honestly don't know how long we are looking at here. I forgot to tally up the amount of time we were looking at. As for bonus features- I would LOVE easter eggs. Call it old fashion- but I would love to be clicking around my dvd menu willy nilly and surprisingly select a cup with some crazy mini-choose your own adventure or something. That'd be fun. I always used to love searching for DVD easter eggs when I was younger so this just seems like an extension. Another idea is Maybe a short sarcastic mini-commentary track where Shay and Vella made snide comments about things that were said about them and their story ark during the documentry? (Them standing there, animated and talking... not just voices like the normal commentary, in character) Not a full track like the main one obviously- like a 15-20 min highlight reel or something. Possibly a silly idea and too expensive but hey-
  3. As of last statement, not likely. The issue is licensing. All of the clips and such would have to get licensed which is time consuming, potentially expensive and difficult to do for a packaged commercial product, which the DVD/BluRay nominally is. well that is disappointing.
  4. wait wait, will the sidequests be included in our boxed set documentry DVDs/Blu Rays? I really hope so- because otherwise it feels like it defeats the purpose. DVDs always have extras on board,
  5. Mhm. It is the only compromise that makes sense. I think right now most people agree the game world, story, music, everything is great... but the puzzles let it down. Most people are pulling out the whole "oh this is only part 1" thing. but yeah, as you said it.... If it gets too much harder then it will alienate the more casual players... and if it stays at this difficulty it will upset a good deal of backers who gave them money to make the damn game in the first place. I really hope that double fine does make a huge patch to part one with a hard mode when part two rolls about... as it would make it the best damn adventure in a long time. It would suck if they never did it and this fell down.. or they did do it AFTER the $100 boxed versions were sent out...
  6. I just love it since one allows people who want to experience the story do so without stopping the more hardcore adventurers from having a bit more of a challange ahead of it.

I keep reading what people are saying about the puzzles being too easy- ways they would have personally made them harder... or on the other side people saying it was good that the puzzles were simple. Well personally THIS is what I think Broken Age needs. If Tim and the gang still have some Voice Acting to record for Act 2 I don't see why this wouldn't be possible.
  8. Me and backing have a love hate relationship. I normally don't pledge high, but when I do it is for a project I really care about like this one. (though, high is relative, for me it is no higher then about $110) Started with Double Fine Adventure, we all know how THAT turned out. (spoiler: Well so far) Then I thought I would never pledge again! But then I saw an awesome open world zombie game, the dead linger. I noticed Wasteland 2, decided to back it due to being like Fallout. Loving adventure games I decided to support Al in the remake of Leisure Suit Larry. To be honest, as a kid I never really passed it. But I suppose that was since I wasn't even meant to PLAY it! My next project came around right after I had managed to have some self control and not back Dead State. Grim dawn came around during the height of my "Torchlight 2" lusting period. So Yeah. Next I was surprised to see an artist I liked to listen to kickstarting, so I backed her. Not much, but enough. Anyway as I said, I had the self control to get out of pledging to Dead State, but not doing that made me weaker. So when Z. came around with an awesome set of rewards I made one of my most risky pledges and pledged to this. Needed Zombies, pledged for them. Castle Story was meant to be my last kickstarter, I figured that given the level of variety in my pledges I wouldn't see another which would interest me. Castle Story was a fun little game I enjoyed watching videos of and decided to help out. So I was happy at this point, I had gotten all my previous games funded and thought to myself, Damn, it would really have to be something impressive to convince me to back again! Then Planetary Annihilation came out and I cried myself to sleep. This next one I was a little skeptical about backing. Since it sounded almost like a game I would like, given my other games I love to play but at the same time it didnt have that special something to push me over the line. The stretch goals pushed me over with an awesome stronghold. All stretch goals met thanks to paypal At this point I KNEW there was nothing else I would need to fund, adventures, card games, sandbox games, rpgs, hell even a TA sucessor. The only thing that could come out now that would push me over the line was something as awesome as FREELANCER. like that would ever happen! .... Star Citizen. *cry Maia was my next project I backed, it really harkened back to the days of Dungeon Keeper and Theme Hospital and really made me excited. Not like there would be a proper dungeon keeper on here to back. OR SO I THOUGHT. The war for the overworld basically was exactly what I wanted. I backed again and weeped softly. Dungeon keeper through and through. Didnt pledge for a couple of months then, pledged for Death Inc since, yeah, I give up. 1) Double Fine Adventure (Funded, Documentary slowly out, much bigger then expected.) 2) The Dead Linger (Funded, Currently in Early Alpha @ thedeadlinger.com , funded over double what was wanted.) 3) Wasterland 2 (Funded, First gameplay video released, gave out a free game at Christmas n_n ) 4) Leisure Suit Larry (Funded, Alpha launched, beta soon. Reached stretch goal tons of new content! ) 5) Grim Dawn (Funded, double what was wanted and added a TON of content in stretch goals. Apparently close to alpha, but very quiet) 6) Amanda Palmer Album (Funded, got content, was not disappointed.) 7) Z. (Barely Funded, but Funded. Was silent for the longest time, but has recently exploded with pictures of them making the cards) 8) Castle Story (Almost funded 10x the amount required, had a setback but now prototype is out and soon all beta players get it too) 9) Planetary Annihilation (Over twice required amount funded, unlocked 4 new planets, 2 new unit sets, full orchestra score, so much more. Still in early stages) 10) Project Eternity (Funded almost 4x required, all stretch goals met, lots of art assets being shown and the promised arcanum play-through) 11) Star Citizen (Over 8.2 mil pledged, 2 mil since the kickstarter close, all stretch goals met...Too early days for content yet. but they talk a lot.) 12) Maia (reached 140k/100k, funded. Alpha apparently out soonish?) 13) War for the Overworld (Funded, Most important stretchgoal met but no others. Still taking pledges on paypal. wftogame.com) 14) Death Inc (Project still going, really promising looking bullfrog style management game.   12. They are promising major story and depth added at 550k, which they reached. But now it is "650k to add a whole new area, girl, and storyline" apparently, it may be a feature al wanted in the first place but was cut. Seems like something good to pledge for- restoration/increasing the depth of a classic.

  14. I dont really NEED to play it much now, I can see the whole story play out in my head rather accuratly. I have played it way too much over the years
