  1. I'm all for releasing it.

One of the main things that people seem to miss is that Double Fine didn't pitch Broken Age on kickstarter. They think that DF PROMISED (everything a game dev announced is a super special promise that can't be broken. no wonder more isn't said earlier about games) Broken Age would be done in X amount of time and blah blah blah. They don't realize how this spun up based on the money taken in and that estimates from the original pitch were based around a game that didn't receive 10x the funding goal. They should see this thing from the start.

  2. I'm a brainy person, therefore my natural inclination is to like brainy games

You may find Hack 'n' Slash interesting then. It doesn't really belong to the 'hack and slash' genre and is much more of a puzzle/programming oriented game.

Too bad you're an admin and have to answer diplomatically instead of pointing out that guy with the big brain is incapable of even looking into what sort of game he's talking about or thinks he's outgrown childish things yet refers to things he doesn't like as retarded.

Please don't insult people. Keep in mind the forum's Guide to Decency and treat everyone with respect. Thanks.
On that note, 'retarded' is a pretty ugly word to be using as an insult in this context in the first place. I don't think louiedog's response to that was out of line.

Thanks. I didn't mean to insult the guy, just point out his insulting behavior in looking down on that game and by extension the people who enjoy the genre and in his use of the word as an insult. I'm surprised a moderator got on me for that but didn't seem to have any problem with his use of that word. At least I would hope a moderator would understand why that's a problem.

  4. I think it's interesting that you used Full Throttle as an example. Having just played it for the first time a couple of years ago after growing up with the other LucasArts Adventure games as a younger man I felt that way about it. It's not that I was disappointed, but the game was a shorter and the puzzles were a lot easier than I remembered.

    Maybe it's you that's different.

  5. Hard in point and click adventure games all too often means hiding an item where it's difficult to find or asking the player to run through every permutation of interactive objects until they stumble on a nonsensical solution. I never liked that aspect and didn't find the difficulty in this game worked against my enjoyment of it at all.

  6. How do you secure a placeholder humble page?

You can register without any purchase right from the main page. A direct link would be https://www.humblebundle.com/signup , you probably should use the same email as with Double Fine.

Placeholder they were talking about is gone now, should be back tomorrow with real link to download DFA.

I just reclaimed my page. They must have flushed all of the old ones because my new page has a different Humble key.

  7. Amazon has a reward system for their Android Appstore. When you purchase some apps they come with free coins. Coins are an alternative currency for buying apps from their store. The below games all provide 20 coins and, as of this posting, cost nothing. So simply adding 5 of these apps to your account will give you 100 coins, or 460 if you get all of them. Dropchord costs 99. You get the game, Double Fine gets paid, and Amazon's promo gets people in their ecosystem. Everyone wins.

  8. Where's the update confirming that the name is Broken Age ? Just read about it on IGN, where there was also a piece of artwork I haven't seen anywhere here on the forums. Not to mention a link to the new official site for the game at brokenagegame.com.

Maybe just an oversight by me, but they could at least have posted the link and a message regarding the final name here on the backer forums... Also a little dissapointed by the name - imo too similar to Broken Sword and just not very original...

Tim announced it in this thread days ago. It got buried by continued suggestions. It probably should have received a new thread or at least an update in the first post.

  9. I just voted for "The Cut", but decided to make a suggestion: Kairos (wikipedia link)

First couple of sentences from Wikipedia about the Greek word:

Kairos (καιρός) is an ancient Greek word meaning the right or opportune moment (the supreme moment). The ancient Greeks had two words for time, chronos and kairos. While the former refers to chronological or sequential time, the latter signifies a time between, a moment of indeterminate time in which something special happens.

After the trademark issues surrounding Trenched/Iron Brigade I think this one is out just because there's a first person puzzle game (generally lumped together with adventure) that was released late last year titled Kairo.

I'd also like to say that "None of the Above" is growing on me for a game about two people unwilling to accept their fate who decide to do something about it.

  10. How different is this game from just regular Rampage? The pitch sounds like it, with some upgradeable elements on the caracter itself.

What kind of game is it? Top down view of the city with you wreaking havoc? 2/3 view, isometric style, like the 3D rampages?

Are you just making the Doritos free game from XBLA where you control the monster as opposed to the Doritos delivering trucks? :D

I have not played that Doritos game! I'm off to youtube! :D!

That Doritos game was surprisingly pretty fun for a free advergame. 200 gs in 15 minutes didn't hurt, but I actually played with my roommate beyond that. Too bad it was delisted, although I hear that it's like a trial in that it doesn't attach to your account, so people who have it can easily share it with friends.

Anyway, the real issue is that this game isn't high enough in the rankings. Did you people see the dinosaur hat? What else do you need?
