Hello, sometimes I voice act, sometimes I write stuff. :)
  1. Hi everyone, It's that time of the year again! For those of you who don't know AdventureX is a convention dedicated to narrative & storytelling in games. We include a wide range of genres, as long as there's a narrative element. The event runs from November 11-12, at Goldsmith's uni london entry is free and on a first come first served basis. Though this year on request there's a guest list perk that allows Kickstarter backers to have wristbands reserved for them until lunch, at which point they get added back into the pool for free entry. This allows us to help fund the event but also means folks who have chipped in a lot and are travelling a long way know they can get in. We maxed out the venue on Saturday last year so this was the fairest system we could come up with! To give you more of an idea about the event we produced a short video about last year's event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PC20f0Nr9pk The Kickstarter is here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/adventurex/adventurex-2017-the-narrative-games-convention? So far the confirmed speakers are: Jon Ingold (80 Days, Sorcery!) Rolf Saxon (voice of Broken Sword's George Stobbart) Dave Gilbert (The Blackwell Series) Doug Cockle (voice of Geralt of Rivia, the Witcher Series) If anyone here would like to apply to speak you can do so here: http://www.adventurexpo.org/apply-to-speak/ If you have a game/project you'd like to exhibit you can apply here: http://www.adventurexpo.org/apply/ Finally if you like to help us out and volunteer then apply here: http://www.adventurexpo.org/volunteer-at-adventurex/ Blurb from the site:
  2. It's November this year Finding a venue in London is a mega nightmare.
  3. @CorruptBiggins glad you had fun, hope you can make it this year. I think it's gonna be even better. @Darth Marsden oh no, that's a shame. Hopefully you'll be able to make it one year at least.
  4. Hey there!

Normally we'd ask that, if you're advertising something on Kickstarter, you post in the Kickstarter thread we have for exactly that purpose, but given that this is kind-of an established thing (you posted about it last year), we'll leave it as is.

Please do be aware of this in future though!

Ok thanks, I did ask Spaff it was OK to post, but I neglected to check where. I'll keep that in mind for future!

Thanks. No need to change your post or anything, this was just a heads up.

  5. AdventureX is the UK's only convention dedicated to narrative-driven gaming. Now in its 6th year, AdventureX is a free event bringing together developers & gamers with a passion for interactive storytelling. The event was formed out of the adventure game community though we've expanded to follow narrative/story games in general. Encompassing everything from retro pixel-hunts to rich, branching narratives, AdventureX is celebration of creativity, indie development and geek culture. The event is in it's 6th year, ad will run November 19-20th at Goldsmith's University London (New Cross). If you'd like to speak, exhibit or be on a panel please fill out an application form. We won't start processing applications until the start of October so don't worry too much if it takes you a few days to apply. Since we're funded by Kickstarter exhibiting itself is free, Application forms: http://www.adventurexpo.org/apply/ If you want to attend as a visitor, just turn up we'll see you then! I know a few fellow Double Fine forum members tend to appear each year so I hope a few of you can drop by again. We're still finalising our special guests but previous guest speakers include: Charles Cecil (Broken Sword, Beneath a Steel Sky) Dave Gilbert (The Blackwell Series) Jon Ingold (80 Days, Sorcery!) Steve Ince (The Witcher, So Blonde) Mark Estdale (Telltale's Game of Thrones, Deponia) Dr. Ernest Adams (S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl) To fund the event we have a Kickstarter, we've actually just hit our goal so the event will run for sure. We're only £26 away from our next stretch goal which is to fund a documentary about the event. We already hit the livestream stretch goal so we should be broadcasting the whole thing as it happens. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/adventurex/adventurex-2016-the-narrative-games-convention
  6. Backer Blu-ray Production Status

Cheers done that now. Might be worth sending this info via the forum email system too? I got the mail about the new forum launch so it may be a better way to reach people who have been missed.
  7. Backer Blu-ray Production Status

Not got anything either, really need to be able to update my info as the address on file will be out of date.
  8. I've logged 47 hours in Rocket League and I am not sure how. Mainly I play with friends. I just finish Pony Island, it's short but fun and very cool/weird.
  9. Final bump to remind everyone it's this weekend, if you can't come please check out the website as we're hoping to stream on Twitch. We'll be running a tech test on Friday so we'll know then for sure. I hope you can all join us virtually if you can't in person. If you can make it in person I'll see you soon. I'll be one of the folks running around the venue madly with an HDMI cable
  10. @corruptbiggins cool hopefully I'll see you there, I'll be the stressed lady with a radio looking for HDMI cables. Shame the rest of you can't make it, we'll try to film for sure!
  11. We were hoping the first week of December but the venue got filled. We've been renting out Universities for the last few years so that limits us to holidays.
  12. Hello everyone, I'm helping to organise AdventureX a point n click ( and related genres of games) convention. It's in London December 12th + 13th in the Stuart Hall building University of Goldsmith in New Cross. Website: http://www.screen7.co.uk/adventurex/ We have a youtube channel up with previous years talks if you're interested in what goes down: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeJ__Sj02p0L9_MAvisZp7A Event Livestream: http://www.twitch.tv/AdventureXpo/ Sponsors: WADJET EYE GAMES CBE SOFTWARE SANCTUARY INTERACTIVE GOLDSMITHS UNIVERSITY OF LONDON SKYGOBLIN ADVENTURE-TREFF SCREEN 7 Entry for attendees is free, exhibitor info will be up in a few days. The event has a mix of talks, panels and exhibitor tables. We also usually head to the pub at the end of each day* I posted here last year and I ran into a few forum people so I hope a few of you can pop by again. * To be honest we tend to start drinking on the Friday as a lot of people travel/fly in.
  13. I don't think you really understand how these kind of deals work. To' sell' the game to Sony, Sony would own the IP and be the publisher ala traditional publishing. In these kinds of deals the game becomes the publisher and owner of the game, the studio then works for them. What's happened here is that Sony have made a deal to bring Broken Age to Playstation a platform not originally pitched. The game is still coming out on PC. What's happened is that Sony is providing resources to bring the game to their platform, this doesn't mean they get editorial control or ownership. What it means is that Double Fine is getting an additional revenue stream to help them finish the game, but it allows them to retain control as Sony is not a publisher. It's no different from them signing the deal with Nordic to make boxed copies or adding the game to another online shop like Desura. If you backed for a PC game you are still getting that game. Part of the draw for Double Fine owning the IP is they get to choose what platforms they release the game on.
  14. It's a difficult balance, there were the same complaints with Broken Sword 5 part 1 from backers so part 2 was a *lot harder*. I enjoyed the challenge but there were still a few frustrating parts. I think a game should get harder but balancing a curve in an episodic game it's even harder than doing all together.
