Overall, I liked it. I was a little disappointed with the fight scenes, since they were said in interviews to have you more in control of them, but it's really just moving your cursor towards the hotspot and pushing the specified button (if you've played Back to the Future: The Game, they're kind of like the flux emitter sequence in episode 5, except with limited time to react). The detective scenes seemed a little lacking too, as they were all about clicking hotspots to find evidence, which reminded me of the exploration sequences in Jurassic Park: The Game. I was hoping the crime scene detection would be more like their CSI games, where you find evidence and then analyse that evidence up close by turning it around and such in your inventory to find more evidence. But the evidence did go into your inventory, so hopefully there will be more to the investigation next episode. What's your opinion on TWAU, Jenni? Those were really just nitpicks (and wishes) though, since the gameplay is very much like The Walking Dead, which I also liked. The voice acting and music, as always in Telltale's games, is great. I thought the story so far was pretty interesting. And I liked the new choice system where you choose to go one place and the events still play at the other without your presence (my playthrough had significant differences compared to the events on the other path, which I personally really liked). It's a good start to the series, although a bit of a slower start than The Walking Dead since this one seems to just build up towards the next episode (which can definitely be a good thing if Telltale manages to take that momentum and improve upon it).

Speaking of QTE games, I just found out that The Act was ported to iOS last year!
I played that when it was in location test at Boston Bowl when it was originally slated to come to arcades before the original developer closed down.
It was actually a lot of fun. You had to turn a dial to adjust the character's actions and emotions in order to make it past scenes, and you'd get hilarious failure scenes if you screwed up, like old school arcade QTE games like Dragon's Lair.
There were always crowds of people around the arcade cabinet watching people play the game (and queues of people waiting for their chance to put a quarter in to give it a try) because the animation drew them in (since, like Dragon's Lair, the game was animated by animators who used to work for Disney).
I never thought I was going to be able to play it again without traveling to an arcade that just happened to get and keep one of the prototypes. And, even better it's only 99 cents. I can't wait to see if I can actually get to the end, since I was only able to get to the fourth or fifth scene when I played it at the arcade.

EDIT: And, I've completed it. The touch screen actually seems more of a natural fit for control than the dial on the arcade version. It took me 24 takes to finish it, and at 3 takes per credit, that would have been 8 credits (2 dollars or 4 dollars at the arcade depending on if it was set on 25 or 50 cent mode). The game was short, but fun. Well worth the money. I would have happily spent the four times the price for it that it would have cost to finish it at the arcade.
So now I only have one more game to go

Oh yeah, forgot The Wolf Among Us Episode 1: Faith. Might as well include that.

Well I finished DuckTales Remastered. I got all the achievements except for finishing extreme mode. I'm considering it completed since I'll have to get a gamepad with a better D-pad before I can do that. The D-pad on the Xbox 360 controller has trouble registering down and it's a pain when playing with hard pogo mode on (which is required for extreme mode).
So, now that's three down.

Unless copyright law in the United Kingdom is changed, the first few episodes of Doctor Who will fall into the public domain next year!
Since it's legal to make derivatives based on public domain works, that could mean a lot of fun for fans of the first Doctor, since first doctor fan works would not have to be authorized by the BBC (though it will be a nightmare for fans who are worried about things like canon).

Of course trademark law muddies things a bit, but labeling the product as something other than Doctor Who should suffice. Of course, the BBC will definitely want to fight back in court, but I'm sure for a franchise as big as Doctor Who someone will try. It should be an interesting year, if it does indeed fall into public domain.

The one good thing that achievements do (if they're done right) is that they get you to do things that you wouldn't do in normal gameplay. The last entry in the episode 1 portion of the Book of Fables is quite gruesome.

Yeah, the Replay games situation is pretty ridiculous. I really thought that Paul Trowe was done with his demeaning of the Guys From Andromeda after he apologized last year. It's bad enough that he posted outrageous claims on their kickstarter page without posting any proof to back those claims up, but then to ban the very people that donated their time free of charge to help make Leisure Suit Larry Reloaded a success just because they questioned his tactics is just going too far.
I feel bad for the team at Replay Games because their adventure games (LSL: Reloaded and Fester Mudd: Episode 1) have been quite good so far, and there are a lot of people who have said they won't purchase anymore Replay games because of Paul's continued unprofessionalism (I'm sorry to say it, but I think I'll have to count myself among them).
I really hope Al Lowe, Josh Mandel, and Paavo Härkönen can find other companies to work with to get their games out there, because working with Paul Trowe won't do them any good (they're all quite talented and I want to see them succeed).

That was my first Double Fine Game Club, and it was fun. It was great to be able to ask a question (and get it answered - yay!) by Tasha.

I'll try to make it here next week too. I'll be in South Carolina (having a holiday in Myrtle Beach - off-season is always the cheapest!) for the last week though.

I joined because of Double Fine's games (well game since there was just Psychonauts at the time of my joining, and the first four flash games - I love Tasha's Game, I can't say that enough), left for a while because I was overwhelmed by the amount of posts right after the Broken Age kickstarter, came back for Amnesia Fortnight and Middle Manager of Justice, and then became a semi-regular poster because all of the familiar faces from Telltale showed up here.

Not all of their best writers are gone.
A lot of the LucasArts alumni are still there. Dave Grossman and Michael Stemmle are still at Telltale, and Chuck Jordan still does freelance work with them. Mark Darin's still there too.
Unfortunately, their new about page only lists management, so it's hard to tell who's still there these days.

Well the problem is, they were building the Special Editions on top of the originals, so they were kind of limited to what they could do.No idea if that was the case with DOTT or not, but I hope it wasn't.
DOTT had such a unique art style that the only way you could do it justice in high definition is to mimic that art style as closely as possible. If they did that, then there definitely wouldn't be a need to build it on top of the original, since there wouldn't be a reason to have to switch to the low definition original.
It makes me wonder though whether they would have included the Maniac Mansion Easter egg on the computer in Weird Ed's room.
A high definition remake of Maniac Mansion with voices would have been great (but I highly doubt they would have went that far with this).

I just finished case 4 of Ben Jordan. So, 2 down, 4 to go (and less than 2 days to do it).

On that note, something even more depressing:More info about 1313.REALLY wished they'd finished this now - it sounds awesome.

A look at all projects in development at the time Disney bought LucasArts.
I'm really bummed that the Day of the Tentacle Special Edition never will see the light of day (and even more so that it was almost finished).

(and that last sentence is on-topic)

We likely won't see Star Wars 1313 (I hope EA continues it, but I'm not optimistic. Though, it would be really cool to see what a collaboration between LucasArts, ILM, Skywalker Sound, and Lucasfilm Animation would result in. All the stories I've read about the development reminds me of the early days of Lucasfilm Games when it was part of the Lucasfilm computer division and they shared talent and ideas between themselves, resulting in innovative and technologically advanced (for the time) video games).
But, we will see the result of some of the technology that was developed for the game.

Venture Beat has an article that says that the motion capture technology developed for Star Wars 1313 is going to be used in Hollywood films to assist in computer-generated films to cut down on production time. The video demonstration of the technology is really impressive. It should be interesting to see what ILM is able to do with it:

I've been enjoying Angry Birds Star Wars II a lot. I'm not surprised at all that this is topping the charts right now.
I liked the first one, but this one tops it in every way, adding in the ability to play as the characters on Dark side, plus having unlockable characters (even the ones from the first Angry Birds Star Wars). Plus prequel Yoda is so much fun.
