  1. Act 2 Release-Date

You are correct, the documentary was always part of the initial project (and the best part so far, at least for me) and we all backers paid for it. But the problems started, as i see it, when the money of the KS wasnt enough because the scope got to big. Instead of doing the game they could paid for DF decided to put their own money into the project.....but then the game wasnt any more for us backer it also needed to be for others in order to DF get its money back. Thats when (i believe) DF decided to dumb the game down, to reach those markets....and broke the promise of give us an old school Adventure Game. Not to mention that even the money DF put wasnt enough, and they had to split into two acts the game to get sales early. At this point i get the feeling that DF and Tim are disapointed with this project (so am i) and based on the really few and remote updates we get, nothing makes me feel different (when was the last time Tim posted something about DFA??) Not happy to write this because i really like DF and wish well for them, but i felt like being honest on my thoughts. Regards/Saludos.
  2. Successful or No?

Well....i really dont agree with you. Adventure genre fans are rigid about Adventure Game types, thats whats makes them (us) Adventure fans. So i dont get your point. Puzzles are not easy because they take less than 2 days to solve, puzzles are easy when you dont have any doubt about what to do to solve them even more so when the games present you the solution before the problem. Adventure fans maybe a minority (in Publishers eyes) but i was watching the livestream from DF the day the KS closed and i heard Tim saying that this game/experience mayor acomplishment was to prove to all the people out there that ¨minority¨s dont have to accept others decitions that there is always a way to achieve yours goals.....so your point is really invalid, specially regarding this project.

  4. Successful or No?

It is the game that most of us asked for. It doesn't have hard puzzles (so far) and it's not complete yet. But it is an adventure game from Tim Schafer where you point & click and get a story told. The genre in itself is old school. It lived on in europe, especially germany and the east european countries and evolved. It's not SCUMM anymore and I didn't exspect DFA to use anything near it, from the start. Yeah ACT 1 could have had more puzzles but it still is a great piece of art. I think many did exspect it to be the new "best Adventure Game of All Time", because 90.000 people gave their money to get it done. But it is as it is. You cannot satisfy 90.000 people. It's absolutely impossible. So I don't know where the "we" comes from. I am not dissapointed. I got what I asked for. I agree with you, we get what we asked for. But do you get what you hope for ??? There is no fault from DF for not give anything more than was promised, but then again i expected a better (half) adventure game. I any case we need to remember that there is EP 2 yet to come and we cannot pass to hard judgement until then.. Regards/Saludos.
  5. Just finish Act 1 and up to the very finish i was not decided how i felt about BA....... but the twist in the end won me over !! Great work DF cant wait for Act 2. Keep the good work !!! PS. Yes is a bit short, but its only half the game so with Act2 duration will be very good. Puzzles could be a bit harder.
  6. I found this on one of the game portals i usually visit :-) : http://www.3djuegos.com/juegos/avances/13743/4055/0/broken-age/ For those that can not read Spanish, let me say that is a REALLY POSITIVE text. Regards/Saludos.
  7. Sales !!!!!!

We are having different ¨opinions¨ about the new release plan, but i have a question: How many copies of a game like Broken Age are usually sale in Steam and others ?? I know there is no other game like Broken Age !! and +90000 people already buy it. But i would like to know how many copies Stacking sale in their first months of life or how many Machinarium did. I dont see Broken Age doing less..... Thanks in advance to anyone that can answer this for me.
  8. I agree there was to much bad press telling it wrong. But there are many of us backers that did not like the plan either....dont get me wrong i get a bigger game with the same money, etc, etc. OK But somehow i rather have a game (whenever is ready i dont mind the wait) between the money we give you that feels right with me........
  9. Totally agree with you ! KS was so they can be free of publishers and pressure and make the game and changes as they want, and is all good with me. But when you make so much game and changes that the money is enough only for half of it..............well better management next time for sure !! dont mind the wait and im sure the game is going to bre great .
  10. Then DF will have to seriously downsize, as funding from those is not enough to sustain them in their current state. Well they got enough funding now till at least January. And when broken age releases they gonna be able to fund themselves allot better. I think it would be a pretty bad idea for a fairly niche company like DF, who needs to sustain a salary for 65 employees, to rely on public funding. Especially if backers are soured on the whole experience. I also doubt in the game's ability to pull a notable profit post-release, as well as future DF kickstarters ability to fund games like Broken Age in the future. I trust that we will get a quality product, but I think having a properly managed game with a sustainable scope would have been a lot better for DF's future. In Episode 8 of the Documentary (I'm pretty sure), the Biz Dev guy for DoubleFine basically tells Tim point blank that all of his projections on the future health of the company depend on Broken Age being completed, and being a success. From what they've shown of the business discussions, I don't think that anyone has any illusions as to the importance of this project to the studio's future. But if Leisure Suit Larry Reloaded can ship a quarter-million copies in the first week, there is still plenty of money that can be made if Broken Age can even match those sorts of numbers. How many copies did The Cave move?? i dont see Broken Age doing less.......
  11. well....just to be clear. I HAVE NO DOUBT I GET MY MONEY WORTH ALREADY. But lets be honest TIM promise so much more when we all started this. No Publishers, Adventures Games Not Dead ! All the buzz on the internet about croudfunding and indie games, all good. Maybe they did not ask for it on the beginning, but they accepted it very quickly and carry it (remember the GDC awards). So this game IS important for DF and in some way the croudfunding and indie scene. So having all this in mind, to overshut the development in more than 18 months ! and who knows how much money......i dont want to sound like a publisher but its not ok. Somehow you are saying that 3.6M is not enough to make a game. I believe that using Steam Early Access is a good plan, one that can save the project. But then again we should not have to save it, this must have been better scheluded according to the 3.6M budget (if the scope of the game needed to be smaller, so be it 3.6M was the budget an the compromise was to make a game with that money) and if you go overbudget by 600k then that is OK, you get it from the bundles or else. But saying that +3.6M takes you only to half of the game (Act I) and then you need more money for the rest. is NOT OK with me. What happens if you dont get enough money to finish Act II ??i dont believe it would happen, but its not a good situation to be. The wish of many of us was to see that the revenues of Broken Age give the chance to DF to finance their next game (maybe with some help from KS) and creating finance independence for the studio, but if you are using the sales to finish the game is not probably this will happen. On the other hand 2 years of development + 4-6 million budget...... now the game must be more than good other wise its going to be see as a failure hurting DF. I know it doesnt sound like it on this post, but i love Tim and DF work. And i am affraid that because of all of this there is going to be way less than 90.000 of us to back the next project. Regards. PS, sorry for the writing, english is not my language.

  13. Episode 9: "Broken Age"

The OUYA-gate well i back Ouya too and im still waiting for it.........with the plus (or less) that i live in Argentina and deliveries using DHL (such is the carrier the Ouya guys choose to use) are blocked in customs do to some fight between DHL and our goverment so i wont get my ouya any time soon. I send and email to OuyaSupport several weeks ago and im still waiting for and answer, so those are probably the 100 dollars worst spend in a long time..... Any way because one KS is not perfect do not mean the rest is safe or that Kickstarter is not good, just need to be more careful.
  14. Episode 9: "Broken Age"

I really agree with you, there are always delays from 2PP and almost zero information why. But there is also less and less posts about Art and Programming or Writing (except some marketing related ones). It makes me believe that we are a weight not only for 2PP but also for DF, in some way. To be clear i love DF and i have no doubt the game is REALLY important for them and they are going to make sure to make a great game. But it feels like, some how, they did not expect or realize(?) the time they have to put into keeping the backers inform (it was a promise from the KS.) PS. sorry for my last post on Spanish, but i am frequent visitor to the forum but almost never post anything because is hard for me to wirte in english so i did one in spanish to see if anyone else that is in my position reply in spanish also. Saludos / Regards
