  1. Psychonauts Patch - Linux and Mac Update

Yes, I believe the Steam version is the one that works the best at the moment. I played through it some time ago, and the projector definitely worked. I also seem to recall having occasional audio problems with the Humble Bundle version that I don't remember having with the Steam version. Outdated libraries, perhaps? I did get occasional graphics glitches with the Steam version, usually around water, but I can probably blame those on the then slightly dodgy graphics driver. It's improved a lot since then. Shame about the DVD version. Ah well, it still looks nice on my shelf. Anyway, thanks for looking into it.
  2. Psychonauts Patch - Linux and Mac Update

It's possible that it was updated on GOG, because there are two threads on their forum mentioning a Linux update. Though according to the second one, the projector bug still remains. I can't verify this, because I do not own the GOG version. (Edit: Looking at it again, I see that this update was made before I submitted my bug report. Though that bug has been well known for years now...) The one in my Humble Library still says 05/07/2013, and had the bug last time I checked. If there is an update for the DVD release, I don't know where to look for it. Still no reply from Double Fine support, other than the "we'll get back to you as soon as possible!" mail I got on April 28.
  3. Psychonauts Patch - Linux and Mac Update

I take it that there has been no progress on this in the past two years? I did try asking Double Fine support as well, but it's been 2.5 months since they promised to get back to me "as soon as possible".
  4. Patch notes - 1.01, 1.02, 1.03

I'm glad to hear that. I haven't played the game (I'm still waiting for the Linux version), but in the gameplay videos I've seen that were presumably made before the fix, it bugged me how much that opening sounded like back when the FluidSynth software synthesized had a bug related to pitch bend https://sourceforge.net/p/fluidsynth/tickets/12/
  5. Choach Oleander doesn't display on beginning of basic braining

Thanks for the correction. I don't know how I managed to misread the date on the file, but I'm glad it worked for you.
  6. Choach Oleander doesn't display on beginning of basic braining

I'm not sure. The last announcement of an update that I could find in the Steam forum for the game was dated February 2013, but I found mentions of the projector bug after that, so surely there must have been some update after that? I'm not even sure who maintains the Linux port these days, but the latest patch I've found by Ryan Gordon was also dated May 7 2013. (If memory serves me, that patch did fix the projection bug in the Humble Bundle version for me back when I tried it.)
  7. Choach Oleander doesn't display on beginning of basic braining

It doesn't work for me with the Humble Bundle version, which I assume is the same as the Humble Store one, but the Steam version works for me.
  8. One thing I didn't notice in this thread - I might just have missed it - is that after the successful kite experiment, Franklin thanks Hoagie for the help, and promises to name an invention after him someday. A hoagie is a kind of sandwich, and apparently the name Benjamin Franklin is sometimes associated with sandwiches, for some reason I haven't been able to find yet?
  9. Where does the backer download code go?

It was for a while, but I guess it must have been some sort of miscommunication because it's back to the old version now. I'll re-download it and start over once it gets there officially, to make sure I'm using the final release version. In the meantime, I'm suffering from a bit of adventure game overload right now, which is something I never expected to say as a Linux user. Not just from the various Kickstarter projects, but also from things like Adventure Game Studio, ScummVM and DOSBox. I hardly know where to begin!
  10. Where does the backer download code go?

I got mine, though I'm not entirely sure I needed it because it seems to simply point to my Broken Age page in my Humble Library. (I wish I had checked if the game had been updated there even before I used the link, but that's too late now.) I'm still waiting for it to download though, so I guess it's still possible I'm going to need the code that was in the mail. Read the instructions above! I did, but I don't have a Steam account so I just downloaded it from the Humble Library page where it seems I didn't need the code included in the email. Mind you, I don't know for sure that it includes Act 2 since I didn't get much farther than selecting Shay's breakfast cereal before I had to leave for work. But it was much larger than the previous version, so it seems likely. What I was trying to say was that it's possible that it's not actually necessary to wait for the email to arrive, but that I don't know for sure.

  12. Psychonauts Patch - Linux and Mac Update

That would be great. Thanks! Of course, now that I've played through the game it will probably be quite a while before I do it again since there are so many other games in my "that looks interesting" pile that I haven't gotten to yet. Some of them are from the 80's, so I really should get around to them. Any year now. :-)
  13. Psychonauts Patch - Linux and Mac Update

Other than the DVD version, I got the game from the Humble Double Fine Bundle (Brütal Legend, Costume Quest, Psychonauts and Stacking) if that's what you mean. The Linux version of Psychonauts was updated on May 7 2013, and the other games were updated on June 16 the same year. (The Windows version of Psychonauts is from June 5 2012. The other games don't appear updated at all, though I've found that the Humble Library page isn't always completely reliable about that. The Mac games were all updated on September 13 2013.)
  14. Psychonauts Patch - Linux and Mac Update

As a follow up, I played through the Linux version, using the unofficial 0.8 patch. There were some occasional graphics glitches, but I attribute those to driver bugs because they usually coincided with somewhat alarming "[drm:radeon_cs_ioctl] *ERROR* Failed to parse relocation -12!" messages. There was also usually some strange noise when starting the game but that would go away pretty quickly and not return. And sometimes there seemed to be a brief pause before a piece of music would loop. But other than that, the game worked great for me.
  15. Soo, about that Loom sequel?

That's funny, I thought I was the only one who thought - however briefly - of Loom when playing Broken Age:
