  1. Thanks again everyone for your support @Smiles: Great! I'm still trying to talk to as many people as I can until the end of the month (more or less), so that'll definitely help with a final push! @nmalinoski: Sure! A lot of people asked to see what I am working on, so I though I would simply share it over here. But don't hold your breath, as I have got many months of work ahead of me. I think I can realistically aim for a presentable draft by the end of the year, or early next year.
  2. Thanks guys @Keeper 0f Time: Sending you a PM shortly, thanks!
  3. Thanks guys, I am really grateful for your support
  4. Great! I am happy to be able to talk to you too! Let's coordinate over PMs.
  5. Thanks for vouching for me guys! And if there are others reading this thread, I still want to talk to you!
  6. Great! Sorry for the late reply, I was away for a few days. PM'ing you now
  7. Thanks a lot for your help, people! It was fun chatting with you There's still a lot of people I'd like to talk to, and I'll be starting another round of interviews next week.
  8. @Smiles: Great! I'll send you a PM so we can coordinate. @flesk: Thanks for the kind words! I've enjoyed talking to you.
  9. Hi, sorry for taking so long to respond. Are you still looking for people to interview? If so, as someone who just finished his PhD myself, I'd of course be happy if I can help you out with yours! I'm located in Germany so time zones could be easier but I think it's still manageable. Just let me know if you're still interested and I can send you my Skype user name or whatever way of communication you prefer. Good luck with your PhD either way, Christian Hi, Yes, I would be happy to talk to you! I'll send you a PM so we can coordinate. And congratulations on completing your own PhD Best, JF
  10. Hello fellow backers! I am a PhD student in Strategic Management and Organization at the University of Alberta, and I am currently conducting research on crowdfunding. I was hoping some of you would be willing to talk to me? More specifically, I hope to better understand the dynamics between creators (e.g. Double Fine) and their communities (e.g. you guys). What happened here over the last three is certainly one of the most interesting cases of crowdfunding to study. There has been a great deal of variation in terms of how people have responded to Broken Age over time, and I would like to capture that as much as possible. I sincerely hope you will accept to be part of this research. If you do, please let me know here in this thread, or PM me, and we'll figure out a way to get in touch (phone, skype, google hangout, etc.). Thanks a lot!
  11. Honestly, if there is a difference, it's most probably because of how the screenshots were stored (e.g. artefacts from jpeg compression).
  12. A backer beta was feasible before Act 1 was released to the broader public. However, now, everyone has access to the game. There is no way on Steam, for instance, to distinguish between backers and broader customers. I don't think it would be fair to expect beta access. On the upside, reaching beta means that the game is almost ready to be released, so we shouldn't have to wait for too long.
  13. Just to add fuel to the fire: Objectivity is intersubjective agreement, not non-subjectivity. http://www.jstor.org/discover/10.2307/27902304
  14. This is a disheartening news. I am terribly sorry for Double Fine and all those who have lost their jobs. Best of luck to them.
  15. Thanks Greg, this is awesome! Keep those updates coming!
  16. It was pointed out on Mojo [mixnmojo.com] that Sony was going after all of LEC ips at the same time as DF was going after the rights for Grim. You can hear about it here, at the 0:59 mark: http://www.giantbomb.com/videos/giant-bomb-live-e3-2014-day-1/2300-9056/
  17. Hack'n'slash is now on the humble store! Steam keys and drm-free!
  18. I know this is meant to be a joke but I think it would have been nice to have those old blocky fonts in the 8-bit easter egg mode.
  19. Au contraire, mon ami. Being independent decreases the incentive to make mass-market games. Having a publisher increases the incentive to make mass-market games. Is this not something we can all agree upon? I think you're both right. Having a big team, hence more mouths to feed, will incentivize creating games that appeal to a broader audience. Having a big publisher, hence a bigger debt to repay, will also incentivize creating games that appeal to a broader audience. The difference is, without a publisher, DF remains the only party deciding what will appeal to a broader audience.
  20. Hey frankie, The first feast was in meriloft, where the depressed girl was left behind. The second one was in sugarbounting, where Vella escaped. And the third one was in shellmound, where Vella fought the monster. You'll notice the parallelism with three "rescue" missions Shay led with Marek. In addition, there are several clues to help us guess what's really going on. First, before the feast, the grandma tells Vella that a Grand Mog comes every 14 ears (Shay's age) and are believed to breed when they leave. Also, the mother within the ship also tells Shay her story, telling him that she once sacrificed herself for her village. I hope this helps with your theorizing
  21. And don't forget, Amnesia Fortnight is about to happen in the following weeks! More amazing ideas are bound to come out of it
