      These Forums are closing!   10/04/2019

After more than a decade of serving this community well, these forums have finally run their course and it's time to close them down. That doesn't mean we want to close the doors on our community, quite the opposite!
Our discord server grows ever busier by the day, and we encourage all Double Fine fans to meet us over there www.discord.gg/doublefine In a short time these forums will become a read only archive and will remain that way until they become needed again.
You never know, it might happen.  There is... a prophecy. Thank you all for being part of these forums, and remember that the fun is definitely not over - so please join us on Discord! Love ya, Spaff, Tim, Info Cow, and all of Double Fine.

  1. Your work has already inspired me to do silly things in shaders.
  2. We could add a little vignetting. Kerbal Space Program has a similar speed paint on their splash screen, which I believe was originally fanart.
  3. As far as I understand this project from a legal standpoint, we cannot profit from any of the content we put into it (CC-NC). DF has given us the greenlight to continue fleshing out their wholly owned IP for the fun of it, and they are free to ask us to take down anything we create. Given that, I don't see how creating Brad Muir's likeness in game is very different from creating Eddie Riggs, since we don't have the rights to either property. This project is made possible by DF's good graces. So I'd say go crazy, create whatever you want for it, as long as you respect their wishes.

  5. Check out the audio issues on GitHub to see where we need help on music. https://github.com/Double-Fine-Game-Club/bad-golf-community-edition/issues?labels=audio&page=1&state=open

  7. Very cool! A painted skybox would be a great contribution.
  8. I don't think we have decided on a deadline. I think we need to have one, otherwise we could just iterate on this forever. It'd be nice to have something solid by the end of AF. Thoughts, everyone?
  9. Nice work. Heh, actually the seam looks fitting, as its mostly visible on the seat cover.
  10. Hello, I'm Lokno, UTC-5 I'm a programmer and I've already been helping out some with the scripting. But I can also do some art in a pinch.
  11. Vella/Shay all the way Now, if it had been the knife, we'd be talking.
  12. Revision of the logo I made so that its further removed from the original.
  13. Thanks! You can see what we're already working with here: https://github.com/Double-Fine-Game-Club/bad-golf-community-edition-assets/tree/master/Sounds Discussions here: https://github.com/Double-Fine-Game-Club/bad-golf-community-edition/issues?labels=audio&page=1&state=open
  14. Edit: Replaced the original image with the new version, because my calligraphy was terrible. Great work so far, Bad Golf team! I made this silly Bad Golf Double Fine Community logo on a whim today, just for fun.
  15. Thanks Justin! It's so cool that you guys would allow us - let alone support us - to do this thing Thanks - this is an awesome idea! With how good things are already going on this project, we might actually make a community designed game an official part of our next AF That would be rad! You know, if you want to get started this year, you could move this thread to the top level of the Amnesia Fortnight 2014! subsection.
  16. Thanks for stating this officially. Rest assured that we're well aware that this is a fan-project and that all rights to "Bad" and "Golf" are reserved by DF and Patrick. o^.^o
  17. Hello! I'm a programmer and I can find some time during the fortnight to help out. I'd love to work on some particle effects and custom shaders if we have time for those things.
  18. AF 2014 video text

    Brandon Dillon @Noughtceratops Ack! Errata: Vertical column 7 is missing and should be "7 1 1 1 7." The horizontal row reading "2 5" should read "2 5 1."
  19. AF 2014 video text

Why are you doing the QR code by hand? If anything, you should be able to draw it paint and find a browser plugin that can decode it. The missing data should be handled by the Reed Solomon Error Correction.
  20. AF 2014 video text

It is possible to work out the missing number set, if you know what a QR code normally looks like and do a bit of legwork. I've done it. I still don't think an auto-solver will solve it though - I'm not quite done, but I believe it has 4 valid solutions. Need to finish it, clean it up, and see if my phone can make anything of it I think it should work if you just filled in the rest of the bottom left marker.
  21. AF 2014 video text

So we're just missing the last row of a QR code? I think that should still be readable if you fill some of the constants back in. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:QR_Character_Placement.svg

Brandon Dillon really should have hashed that incantation. Curious how we were suppose to come across it without digging in the exe
  23. HacknSlashAnnounce

I believe the incantation is hidden in the border. And to further complicate it, I believe the incantation isn't hidden bitwise, but visually. I'm very familiar with compression artifacts and these don't look like compression artifacts. In some places, there is a very tight pattern as well. Well, actually, now that I think about it - isn't it odd its the only PNG on the site? Everything else is JPEG. PNG is lossless, meaning it doesn't lose any data when compressed, unlike JPEG compression. So a PNG would be a better format for hidden data.

I could investigate some blind steganography techniques, but I'd be surprised they went that far. So far we've made a lot of progress with common tools.

I'm sorry, my responses are limited. You must use the right incantations.
