Same here.

When I start the game, either from Steam or directly from my start menu, two windows appear one after the other (see attached screencaps). After 2 seconds the second window turns form white to black before disappearing. At this point the game stops running at all.

Specs for my 'Dell Inspiron 1525' laptop:

GPU: Mobile Intel® 965 Express Chipset Family (with latest drivers from Intel, instead of Dell)

CPU: Intel® Core2 DUO T7250 @ 2.00 GHz

RAM: 2 GB DDR 2

OS: 32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate with SP1

Edit:

My computer is a dual-boot system with a 64-bit version of Linux Mint 14 Nadia installed, separate from the Windows installation mentioned above. When I start the game in there, it runs fluently. This excludes (possible) hardware failures from software issues, right?

P.s.

I must say I am very pleased with the possibility to download the game for both Windows and Linux on the same Steam key!

Hey folks! Unfortunately, the game won't start for me either. I'm on a MacBook Pro: 2,3 GHz Intel Core i7, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M. Currently I'm still on Mountain Lion OS 10.8.5.

After clicking "Play", the icon starts bouncing in the dock but doesn't do anything.

Please let me know if you need a system report or anything.

If you know how to start the app bundle from a terminal it would be interesting to see if any error's are getting reported.

Is this the information you're looking for? Or is it better to send the full report to support [at] doublefine?

Yep, I'm having the same problem. A blank window pops up briefly and then closes again after a second or two. System specs:

CPU: Intel® Core2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz (2 CPUs)

RAM: 2 GB

Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT

OS: Windows Vista

My main computer broke so I'm on my old backup machine, but it's updated and should be able to run the game from what I can tell...

Won't start for me either. Here is a DXdiag snippet (specify if more is needed). I honestly don't know if my graphics card is sufficient. But I could run Portal2 on this so I figured it might work.

Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_qfe.130704-0421)

Language: English (Regional Setting: German)

System Manufacturer: MSI

BIOS: Default System BIOS

Processor: Intel® Core2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz (2 CPUs)

Memory: 2816MB RAM

Page File: 990MB used, 3711MB available

Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS

DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

DX Setup Parameters: Not found

DxDiag Version: 5.03.2600.5512 32bit Unicode

Display Devices

---------------

Card name: ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO

Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc.

Chip type: ATI Radeon Graphics Processor (0x9589)

DAC type: Internal DAC(400MHz)

Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_1002&DEV;_9589&SUBSYS;_22331787&REV;_00

Display Memory: 512.0 MB

Current Mode: 1280 x 1024 (32 bit) (60Hz)

Scratching bare minimum if I got that right, but I'm wondering about DX10 mentioned in the requirements on the Steam page, isn't XP 9.0c the highest version (sorry I quit PC's for gaming a long time ago).

Edit: Running now, reinstalled drivers (twice, second time did it, I guess)

Having the same issue. A blank window pops up for a brief moment before disappearing. It might be worth mentioning I had the same issue with Spacebase DF9 but because that's in alpha I wasn't too fussed about it.

Same problem here. Steam shows a window telling it's preparing to launch Broken age, then a Broken Age black window opens and closes half a second after. No error message either.

Hey guys. Same here. I click "play" on Steam.. it seems like it loads the game... a window with the title "Broken Age" and the icon pops up, then closes after a second or two and that's it. The process in the task manage also disappears.

My specs:

I'm using a laptop Inspiron1750:

Windows 7 64bits Home Premium Edition - Intel® Core2 Duo CPU P8700 - 2,54Ghz.

4Gb RAM - ATI Mobility Radeon graphics card (it came as a default with this model...which is already old).

I've been able to play other Steam games and I don't think I would have much trouble running Broken Age on low specs. Right?

Disabling Steam Community before playing doesn't solve the issue.

For whatever reason restarting steam fixed my problem.

Pleased to hear you got it fixed. It didn't work on my system however. I even restarted my whole computer and turned of my Avira virus protection afterwards .

mmm..sadly I updated everything and still can't even boot up the game. It crashes as soon as it starts and without displaying any errors.

I'll investigate a little bit further. Any help would be appreciated.
