Their IGF trailer from 2013 make it seem like they were already pretty far along with development, so I think the similarities are probably coincidental.

I think so, too, but nevertheless it is rather striking.

Yes, it definitely is. I also see several people compare it to ICO on the Steam forums, but I haven't played that, so I wouldn't know.

EDIT: Stupid phone spellchecker corrected ICO to Iron. :/

Aw, dude! You gotta play ICO! It's getting a little dated in the appearance department, so might not be as visually striking these days as it was back in PS2's prime, but when it comes to AI companions in games, there is nothing else quite like it.

I think for any game where two of the most important aspects are story and an AI companion, the team should have to play ICO as homework.

My mom actually owns a PS2 from way back, so I might try to find a copy of ICO to play on it.

This sentence makes me feel very old.

Sorry. :(

I used to play Tekken 3 a lot when I was in the navy (I was on a frigate, and that was pretty much the only entertainment on board), but other than that I only played strategy games on my computer at the time.

I'm pretty sure that flesk is actually older than that sentence makes him sound, but at the same time, that is a very sad sounding sentence, haha.

Just get the PS3 version of ICO. Well worth getting - it's escort questing done RIGHT. And that never happens.

As for Toren... I'd never heard of it. But I have now! Thanks OP!

Yeah, I'm 34. What I meant is that she's had the PS2 all those years, since around the early 00s or something, even though it has hardly been used at all the past 10 years. It's hooked up to a TV and everything, but I'd forgotten it was there until my son played it a bit when we visited a couple of months back. My son is only four, and all she's got are my brother's old racing and fighting games, so she has asked me to help her find some games he might enjoy. He likes platformers, so I think I will try to track down some of the good ones.

I waited years to play Ico because I just did not want to play a game that was one long escort mission. Eventually, I tried it, and about twenty completed playthroughs later I still want to play it again. And again. And again. Holy crap, what an amazing game. I bought the PS3 just for The Last Guardian. Too bad that never ended up happening.

Yorda is the best playground girlfriend I ever had. She held my hand. Sat on a bench with me. We looked at a bird together. She said a bunch of gibberish in a nonsense language I couldn't understand. Then she got weirdly fascinated with a rock and totally spaced out for a couple of minutes, so I just left her there and went to do guy stuff for a while. Then later we held hands some more. Then some black smoke demons came out of the walls and floors and tried to drag her into a vortex to oblivion, so I had to grab her hand and pull her back out and then whack all of the demons with a plank of wood I found on the ground. Then we held hands on a mine cart ride. <3
