What are the best Point and Click adventures of the last 10 years?

Recommended Posts

The game which is clearly number one for me is

Monkey Island 2

The humour, the weird end and the famous bone song are unforgettable.

Cheers

Nick

Well, for me it would have to be:

Perry Rhodan: The Immortals of Terra

Dreamfall: The Longest Journey

Myst IV

The Book of Unwritten Tales

Culpa Innata

Machinarium

Gemini Rue

Syberia 2

The Blackwell series

Lost Horizon

Now,I know that Dreamfall isn´t exactly point & click but I had to include it anyway, love the game so much. :P

But,if it really doesn´t count as a point & click game then I would put Still Life instead of it.

Best I've played in the 10 years:

The resurrection of both Sam and Max *and* Monkey Island. Those folks at Telltale did a great job with both of these imo though then after with Back to the Future and Jurassic Park things seemed to go too far towards just too simple. Their new Walking Dead series seems to be getting a good reception, but again it barely counts as a real puzzle-style PnC anymore.

Ben There, Dan That + Time Gentlemen, Please are easily the funniest in ages whilst also having great puzzles.

Book of Unwritten Tales I also found genuinely funny and a great side-swipe at the fantasy genre amongst other things.

That'll do for now.

I agree with the guy above and would add Deponia, Harveys New Eyes (I'm not sure if that's the title. You can find it in the Edna and Harvey Breakout Collection) and the second part of the unwritten tales thing.

I loved how Deponia and Harveys New Eyes changed the mood over the course of the story. First extremly funny but later on it got kind of serious and a little sad without loosing its humour.

My top games last 10 years (probably forgets a bunch, but here goes). In no particular sorting:

The book of unwritten tales (I think this is maybe the best. Great humour and real oldschool quality feeling)

Gemini Rue

The Blackwell series

The Runaway series

Escape of monkey island series

Sam & Max series from telltale

Secret files 1 +2

Lost Horizon

The whispered world

Hector games

The Cat Lady isn't a "point and click game", but it's an adventure all the same, so I'll throw that one into the mix.

Hi there. I haven't read the whole thread, but wile I see several of the wonderful Daedalic games here, what I haven't seen mentioned is A New Beginning. I personally liked it a lot, it had a contemporal topic, a serious story with a good dose of humour, likable characters, great dialogues and good puzzles. Unfortunately, I heard that the english voice acting is pretty bad but in German it sounds great.

Other adventures I liked:

The Whispered World

Secret Files: Tunguska & Secret Files 2 (haven't played part 3 yet)

Lost Horizon

Ben There, Dan That

Time, Gentlemen, Please!

Runaway 1, 2 & 3

Overclocked

Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People

Sam & Max series

Deponia 1 & 2 (3 released tomorrow)

Back to the Future

Dreamfall (not really classic Adventure though, but wonderful story)

A New Beginning

Chronicles of Zersura

puuh, gotta look in to my shelf for more.
