Kickstarter Project Collection Thread

Recommended Posts

So, this isn't so much an adventure game, but it's made by some of my fellow alumni from the Digipen Institute of Technology. I'll let them describe the project as they will do a better job than I could.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1857884659/distance-a-next-generation-arcade-racer?ref=live

Basically, if you ever played the free Digipen game Nitronic Rush, this would be the spiritual successor. If you haven't, go play it.

Sadly the project is in danger of not being funded. They are close though!

Grimoire: Heralds of the Winged Exemplar has posted an "interesting" technical update on increased resolution and viewport size.

Yes, that guy definitely is "interesting".

Sui Generis is an RPG with a good looking engine and which tries to do some things differently. I really like its direction and I think that the video is definitely worth a look even.

Quest for Glory creators are Kickstarting “Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption”

Lori and Corey Cole, creators of the Quest for Glory series of adventure/RPG hybrid games (which I freakin' loved) are Kickstarting an RPG adventure game, set in the land of Gloriana (using all their pre-existing, non-infringing IP, since Activision owns the franchise, now). Here's a pitch paragraph for you:

Do you like RPGs but are bored of monster slaying and fetch quests? Wish games had more meaningful plots and memorable characters? Join novice thief Shawn O’Conner as he attends the hallowed halls of Hero University (think Hogwarts meets D&D) and navigates the trials of college life. Your choices determine whether he becomes a noble hero, a ruthless villain, or some mix in between. You decide if he will use force or finesse, persuasion or cunning to overcome obstacles and accomplish goals. But remember, all choices inevitably have consequences.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1878147873/hero-u-rogue-to-redemption

They've chosen to place Hero-U more on the RPG side of things, but retaining a strong adventure puzzling element, and have partnered up with Aussie developers Brawsome (known for the Jolly Rover adventure game, as well as the award-winning MacGuffin’s Curse) to develop the game, and have targeted Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux!

Of course, being a Linux user myself, I boosted my pledge to show support accordingly.

Not an adventure game... but I'm a big fan of Planescape: Torment and the same game designers are on board. This was funded and is the only project to top DFA's fundraising on Kickstarter so far, but they still have paypal rewards for late supporters. http://eternity.obsidian.net/

I'm a big fan of Planescape: Torment, and that's why I'm worried that I won't enjoy Project Eternity that much. It looks more aimed at BG / Icewind Dale players.

We are in the middle of our Kickstarter campaign, and it would be so awesome if you would check it out:

Looks good but not my type of game. Good luck with it.

LA Game Space, a Ycombinator for pushing video game development further with a touch of Ted X Talks. there might be some adventure-like games in the 30 game bundle

RPS was just really impressed with the idea of internationally renowned artists and developers being all involved and "shooting for the moon"

The Last Door is a pxiel point n click interactive adventure. The fact that for just the simple support of a dollar you get in on all their concept work, from music, to preparing the game to even development of the Kickstarter pledge. For folks who love the nuts & bolts that Double Fine has started and want to see it in any project they can, this game is great.

The way they've found truly simple pixel art to be expressive & representative is amazing. The music really ups the ante. I really like their idea of the community concept as well. Double Fine and other past major point n click creators aren't the only ones who should be doing it. I wish all games did it. Well, for me just games I want to play, but still.

Art direction isn't bad. And quite clever in premise and interactive teaser/trailer.

Montas, a first person adventure/exploration horror game.

On the opposite spectrum, Forsaken Fortress, a post-apocalyptic mix of RPG, real-time strategy, base building, and tower defense.

posted these over in my own thread before realizing there was already a sticky thread devoted to Kickstarters. D'oh! sorry. Anyway, both of these are great seeming, ending soon and neither have reached their amount yet (one is basically a real world videogame).

A lighthearted guinea pig action platformer with dialogue trees, kind of like Jazz Jackrabbit/Earthworm Jim.

Goblin's Bounty: A Gamebook with Collectable Cards

Days of Dawn - a good looking hand drawn CRPG

VLC for the new Windows 8 User Experience ("Metro")
