Kickstarter Project Collection Thread

Another adventure game: The Capri Connection. http://kck.st/Y3WXT8

This is the third part of a trilogy made with real photographs in actual locations (predominantly on the island Capri, no surprise there).

Epic Metal Knights: love, war and other nonsense

http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/epic-metal-knights-love-war-and-other-nonsense/x/2637289

It's a point and click adventure game set in the Epic Metal Land, with the music of a Metal-parody band.

Something like "Monkey Island meets Brutal Legend"

Not Kickstarter, is indiegogo, but we are italians and kickstarter works only in the u.s/uk ;)

Looks good. My excuses for not yet backing are that I'm already over my crowdfunding budget due to Torment, and that I feel safer with Kickstarter. Still, if you get to the Android stretch goal I think I won't be able to resist.

Anyway, I also posted about it at the GOG crowdfunding thread.

I backed my sixth Kickstarter game (maybe one each quarter/trimester is a nice rate), Richard Garriott's Shroud of the Avatar.

The campaign on Kickstarter already is over but you can still pledge on their site.

I'm still unsure if this was a good idea. If this will result into a great single player experience, some social multiplayer mess or help to fund his next Britannia Manor or at least get me a (real) photo from space. Anyway, i primary pledged for nostalgic reasons, i had a lot of fun with certain Ultima games and somehow i hope he'll be able to do another one.

While it has nothing to do with video games, I thought I should mention that the Veronica Mars movie Kickstarter is mere minutes away from breaking the current Double Fine Kickstarter record of 'most backers'.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/559914737/the-veronica-mars-movie-project

'Slightly less popular than Veronica Mars' is not necessarily a bad thing for Double Fine. ;)

...hey, someone needs to make a Veronica Mars adventure game.

Though, they put a 1$ pledge category in order to achieve this record. For me they will be the real record holders only if they manage to surpass DFA's backers number AFTER subtracting the 1$ backers for their final total!!!

One aspect which sets the DFA apart is the rather tasteful T-Shirt.

All the other games related Kickstarters i know of demonstate, in a almost confusing offensive way, how tasteless humans can be.

One aspect i dislike about successful Kickstarter projects is that at some point you have to create an account for each developer. This is okay if you want to concentrate on one or a few specific projects only but it tends to get annoying and feels like work as soon as you backed some more. This is where the advantages of more centralised services like Steam, GOG or the new HIB account kick in. The situation also might enhance once you're backing more than just one game from a specific developer and already existing accounts can be reused. Just talked to someone who backed over 20 projects and he's with one toe in hell.

Oh, and here is another point & click adventure, The Realm:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/995134339/the-realm-game

Whatever this means exactly: "We’re re-imagining the point and click adventure, bringing it up to date so that it can be played just as easily on touch screen devices as with a mouse. We've taken out complicated inventory screens and obscure puzzles and replaced them with the streamlined interactivity and intuitive design now expected of modern games."

The art for The Realm is so gorgeous... and we can never have too many point and click adventure... Right now the game isn't looking so hot, so please all you adventure lovers that backed Double Fine... consider looking at The Realm.

At the very least take a look at the pitch, the beautiful art and memorably music is just ace.

Whilst The Realm is looking good and the 2.5 route they are taking is a nice one, the problem with the game is, at least with the adventure gamers i talked about the game, that they are promoting it like a casual adventure game, you know a somehow reduced inventory, we do it in a modern way, etc., That's not what a large part of the point & click adventure community wants. Plus it's another point & click adventure with a children story and that's what they are doing primary these days.

Btw. i just read through the update of Space Citizen and i did enjoy reading the pdf about the standard spaceship, the Aurora. The way the brochure was written (the sleeping area was kind of strange) reminded me a bit of a serie of illustrated books which was available when i was a child about a great galactic war (space opera) with many images (they also used for book covers), blueprints and data about space ships, research stations in space, shipwrecks on foreign planets, ... looking at those pictures made you thinking and dreaming about stories and how they could end up this way.
