Been working on the music for one of my unannounced game projects now which is an adventure gamey type of thing. Latest version of the theme tune:

And a bit of music I'm using for one of the sort of hub areas of the game, still in progress:

Quirky, I like it!

It's my contribution to a mobile (web based) application that is being worked on as a group project. One challenge was making it so it can be played by touch only, hence the arrows on the game screen.

You can play it here: http://www.danstokoe.webspace.virginmedia.com/Uni/gold/game/

Still got a few things to add, like sound effects and music (which also means a mute button is needed) and some other graphical tweaks.

Just realised that at the top of this page is a shot of the space invaders game I did for my lab exercise, which was essentially the base for the recent work I've done though heavily modified (at the most basic level I am able to create my own classes & functions now which I couldn't a couple of weeks ago and so it makes the whole process so much easier to manage and allows a lot more stuff to happen).

Hmm, the first song sounded nice. I didn't like "Do they know..." when they released it but meanwhile it has this vibe from the 80s and it's nice when Boy George and Bono join in.

Cyndi Lauper was great in the otherwise worse "We are the world, ...". Cindy Lauper had some moments:

Glad you enjoyed it. Not entirely happy with the 'numbers', which should probably be a bit longer, but whatever.

Here's Day 2, which is Doctor Who: Voyage of the Damned. It's 26 minutes, so it's a big 'un!

I've had to put it on Daily Motion because, annoyingly, Vimeo's free account has a limit of 500MBs uploaded every 5 days, and since Day 2 is over 350MBs, it'd break that. So... yeah.

Some of my future videos will probably fit into that free space, and I'll upload the ones that don't to Vimeo once the limit has reset, but until then you'll either have to watch the Daily Motion version or... well, just wait. Sorry.

Man, if only that other site hadn't shut down my account... this would all be so much easier. *sigh*

Last year we made a Christmas version of The Wager for a larf, called A Very Wager Christmas. It got a bit out of hand, and ended up being more or less a partial conversion of the game. We're quite proud of it, although there are a handful of bugs on account of it literally getting finished at midnight Christmas Eve/Christmas Day. Nobody played it because it was released at that time, but if you'd like to, the Windows Exe can be got straight from here:

Made this for a Digital Imaging introduction class at university:

I never did any of the fancy stuff I wanted to do with it, but even without those I feel its at least interesting enough to show off for those who want to see it.

It's probably the spaces in the filename that's causing the problem.

As for me... well, I'm amazed I got this done tonight, considering how busy I've been with the Secret Santa, but here, enjoy my look at...

THE STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL.

Yes, I watched the whole thing. Yes, it IS as bad as you've heard. Yes, I will have nightmares.

Permafry: 404?

Weird it doesn't seem to want to let me link.

Ah well just copy and paste this address in full:

It's yet another limitation of this forum "software". It doesn't handle URLs with special characters well; even when URI encoded. Your best bet is to either remove the spaces in the URL or to TinyURL it.

So over the Christmas break I've been working on an extended exercise for my programming module at uni. Thought I might as well share a screen shot of it.

Bit of a warning, video has some curse words and is a little silly.

Some friends and I finished shooting our Star Trek: Next Gen parody short.

You really need to know nothing about Next Gen or Star Trek to watch it, give it a shot! Hope y'all like it!

Occasionally my friend and I who make games together spend a weekend doing a game jam or just starting work on a different project to our current main one, a bit like a mini amnesia weekend.

The project for this weekend was a game we're calling Leader of the Starry Skies, which is sort of like another game we made called The Wager, but on a grander scale and also in space. It's early days but it's coming along nicely, here's a short video of a couple of things we got working.

And here's a link to two pieces of music that I wrote for it, both of which I'm pretty happy with! They're mostly done, but a little mixing and tweaking needed here and there.

Hey nice idea for a thread! some cool work people have been doing :) I thought id share some animation practice I did recently - I normally do straight up web/mobile design but still have a soft spot for animation and don't get to do much these days now that we've all moved away from Flash :(

Did a little write up too:
