OANST: This might put your mind at ease a little:
There are certain expectations associated with this type of game and we wanted to show right away that we could tick every box for oldschool Rare fans. Plus, we couldn’t really claim ‘Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successor’ and then not show an energetic buddy-duo and awesome Grant Kirkhope tune!

But this is only part one of our game reveal and fans will see a lot of new ideas as we move further through development. A lot of people have been crying out for a proper platforming adventure game, but we totally understand that simply replicating what we did in the past won’t be good enough – we need to innovate and surprise people, and we fully plan to do so.

From Jim Sterling's interview with the team, if anyone's interested.

That does make it a little more interesting to me. And I really love 3D Platformers. I'll keep watching!

Don't know if this has been mentioned here already but it looks pretty cool:

Litte Devil Inside

"Little Devil Inside is a truly engaging 3D action adventure RPG game where you are thrown into a surreal but somewhat familiar setting with humans, creatures and monsters to interact with, learn and hunt - journey, survive and discover the world that exists beyond."

So Bloodstained surpassed every stretch goal in Kickstarter pledges alone(besides Paypal) and got former Channel Awesome contributors Video Games Awesome(the main couple anyway) to come from Canada to Japan for a live countdown show. Huh. Watched a few minutes of it. It was entertaining for something that was pretty unprepared and last minute.

I'm not sure what the final tally was including Paypal pledges, but they mentioned that if you include them, they passed Veronica Mars(5.7m).

Yeah, they're saying it's the most successful Kickstarter ever. Which says a lot.

Got a long way to go to beat Pebble Tech's $20 million raised with their 2nd project after their first topped $10 million. Still impressive though.

Exploding kittens pretty much got the moist hype, over 200k backers

Star Citizen most succesful post-kickstarter with 84 million collected and nearly a million backers

And Shenmue is the type of game where 2 millions is a very small portion of the final development cost. Who is bankrolling the rest of the development, Sony alone?

Kickstarter is being appropriated by the creeping tentacles of the corporate pre-order machine.

In1999, then had $70 million in budget doing the first one. So the full game is probably $100 million or more now.
