A mirror world where time runs backwards. Puzzles may need to be solved in reverse order to proceed.

Instead of "Ice Level", why not get specific? My first thought was "Underneath an Antarctic ice shelf." I think it could be quite... COOL... down there. For some reason I also see the northern lights, but INSIDE THE ICE. That look pretty sweet. Would be hard to traverse though, you'd slip and slide everywhere.

Could you get meta and set some puzzles in a world where life is lived via adventure games? Maybe too self aware. Hmm.

The inside of a speaker.

On the tip of a pixel.

Inside a bag of marbles.

In a world like Gumby's, where you can move in an out of books (which all have their own worlds within) at will.

Here's an idea from Tim's writing journal thingy. A world that contains thousands and thousands of unused ideas, floating around in the sky in little thought bubbles. Whenever someone needs an idea, they hop in a flying contraption and go grab one of the bubbles.

- The ruins of a recently 'abandoned' theme park, with power still active for the rides and amusements, and the shadows of unknown figures flickering in the distance.

- The shore of a beach, populated with enormous sandcastles and other sand structures, creating a village of sand constructions constantly under the threat of the encroaching tide.

- A space convoy; a hodge-podge contraption consisting of hundreds of ramshackle vehicles and parts patched together to create a kind of ship/city hybrid. The parts could be pulled from all different time periods.

Ok, I think I have a few. Thank me later, Tim!

- A future world where aging has been cured, but overpopulation has led to gradual ramshackle expansions to existing architecture one room at a time to where cities effectively be come one large building, and the old streets of our time are now effectively indoors, with a canopy of pipes and wires running utilities to wherever they can reach. See Kowloon Walled City for possible reference material:

Like the fifth person to suggest kowloon.

A world where clothing is sentient, and it much choose a person to wear each morning.

A world of extreme growth where you only have minutes before an old plant dies and a new one blocks the old path, causing constantly changing landscapes and pathways. Maybe growth patterns can be altered with the proper tools?

A world where the year passes in minutes (combined with above?), each season passing by and causing new paths to open and close. (Freezing water, falling leaves, blooming flowers.)

A living planet where the environment changes based on the planet's mood.

A 'miniature' city where all of the buildings have been created out of lost tools and knickknacks. Rulers forming the sides of a skyscraper. Pens serve as scaffolding. Gears, nuts, and bolts covered in dry glue form roadways. Pins and needles are antennae.

Rainforest-type canopy of impossibly tall trees. Maybe walkways and/or interwoven branches between treetops?

Library of talking books which have each read only the other books in the library, as there is no mirror.

-The vacation home of the four horsemen of the apocalypse

That's very interesting :) don't think I've seen that one before.

It's funny as well, because I wouldn't expect the four horsemen to ever take a vacation.

-That little place in hell reserved for someone hardly bad.

-A retirement home for burned out game designers.

-Soviet Russia... (where the game plays you...)

A company where you can hire Santa Claus actors. Lots of choice between different Santa types, big egos, chaotic management. Santas get their presents from huge gift warehouses with hard to understand logistics. There also are immense reindeer stables and advanced reindeer training facilities.

A British estate, owned by the Association to Preserve the British Heritage of Slow and Complicated Lawn Games.

The members are upper class, ancient and filthy rich. The games take weeks and the way the scores are kept are several times as absurd as they are in tennis. The members of the Association are very keen to play their games exactly by the rules as they were 300 years ago - these rules also concern things like what drinks accompany which game at what time of the day.

A lot have been done before, and some are more concepts than locations, but these elicit excitement in my feeble brain:

-Upside down world (not actually on its head on screen, but if you drop something it falls upwards) could make for some interesting puzzles

-Islands floating in the sky, clouds that are tactile, walking on rainbows etc.

-Altered reality (Monkey Island 2 ending is a good example)

-Character gets shrunk, (Honey I shrunk the Kids). This could be a really interesting way to completely alter the players perception of the world. Say the first "room" of the game where you've picked up item X and Y and just moved on, is now a huge level in itself. You get where I'm going. Also, shrinking the character so much they can enter a body. You'll have to google that movie on your own man.

I remember a very old scenic french town ( rochegude ) where all the houses are built into each other, the cobbled streets seemed to be part of the houses. And when it rained the street turned into little rivers.

You can find images of it in google.

Another Idea is from a radio show i heared about a documentation of a small town close to death valley. A rundown town full of drop outs and hippies in a desert. I am sure watching that doc would give a lot of ideas for interesting and weird characters as well. Sadly i dont remember its name.

A place where pilgrims go, like the place where some dead idol lived.

The trick is to find an interesting type of idol - not just a rock idol...

Someone who did something that everyone tries but no-one ever succeeds in. Like having a totally original idea that came from nowhere. Or giving the answer to life, the universe and everything. Or making a blind wall see.

Hmmm not there, yet...
