Facebook Sharing Issues

Recommended Posts

We've had some reports of people running into issues when trying to share photos on Facebook. We're digging into this and will report back on this thread when we have more info. In the meantime hang tight and we'll do our best to get it resolved as soon as possible!

If you're having Facebook sharing issues, please post here! Microsoft may have resolved them but we'll need more feedback from you guys to know for sure.

Thanks for letting us know Balthan! I really appreciate it. Sending the error code to microsoft now to investigate.

I've had a similar problem... But I think it's more about how I setup my xbox and an interesting quirk of the box.

I've setup my kids with individual xbox profiles (not xbox live ones, just local ones) and went through the process of setting them up a kinect ID against their profiles.

I need to login as myself since my xbox account which is a live one is connected to my facebook account so that I am able to post the photos.

The issue arises if the xbox while in the game detects one of my children and thus logs them in, then you're in the state that you can't share any photos since those accounts don't have a facebook account associated to it. Plus my oldest child I have set her up with a child xbox live account under my own and set restrictive sharing against her account.

When you're in this state it's a shame since there is no way to share any subsequent photos without exiting the game, or manually logging everyone out apart from me.

Would be nice if there were other ways to share such as via e-mail rather than posting to facebook as sometimes I don't want to have the pics on my timeline, and because they are coming up via the Kinect Party App as mobile upload I have to set the security on each post if I didn't want it shared with friends but shared on a particular lists with just my close family.

Ahhh - thanks for those details BarTender. What your describing does make a lot of sense - we didn't include specific managing of which account will be sharing on facebook because of our goal to keep UI at an absolute minimum to avoid setup confusion. In most cases it does simplify things, but I can see how in your situation it really makes it frustrating. Sorry about that! I've passed the info on to our engineering team in case they have any quick fixes - I'll post those here if they do.

We actually did look into sharing pictures via email - which would have been perfect for this game! Unfortunately that's not something supported by XBOX Live so we weren't able to pursue it. As for the sharing permissions, you could try setting the kinect party app sharing options to exactly the lists you want. I believe that will make it so that subsequent pictures posted will inherit those permissions.

Not sure if this is the right spot but I've encountered a different type of Facebook issue.

While playing the game with a friend a few days ago (love it, btw), we decided to upload some of the photos. Unfortunately, since we were both logged into Xbox live, we noticed too little too late that he had logged in his Facebook info on my profile. However, when we tried to find a way to log out of Facebook, we couldn't. Restarting the game and console kept the info saved.

My question is, is there some way to log out of Facebook once it has been assigned to a profile? Thanks in advance!

Hey Remy - I actually don't have access to a retail xbox right now, but I'm going to dig into this out when I get home tonight. I did a quick search and found one possibility that you could try out:

Drew, I appreciate the idea. Unfortunately, that didn't work because I don't have the Facebook app on my Xbox - we had signed in directly through the game. Thanks anyways, let me know if you have any other ideas.

Shoot. I tried it last night as well and ran into the same issue :( BUT I think I have another solution. Try deleting the Kinect Party App from the facebook account you want to unlink from. I think that will do the trick. You can get there by going to the settings option in Facebook for your account. Then look for the apps button on the left side. Hit the X next to the Kinect Party App to remove it:

Drew, sorry it took me a while to respond but when I went to post a photo after my friend had deleted the app on his Facebook profile, it still had me automatically logged in to that account. Any other suggestions I could try?

So there's no way to remove the facebook info from the game itself huh?

That seems so strange... So somehow your profile is still linked to his account? i.e. You deleted the app from his Facebook settings, and it still posts to his Facebook page? I'm sorry this has ended up being so complicated. In our various tests we never ran into this situation or I would be able to give you a concrete answer.

I'm gonna run this by our network specialist and get back to you!

Drew,

Sorry I meant to post this a few days ago but things have been really busy. We finally managed to get logged out after deleting not only the Kinect Party app but the Xbox Live app as well. That took care of it!

Thanks for your assistance!

Oh wow - thanks for the update! Strange I thought the xbox live app was taken down from the marketplace, but either way I'm really glad it's finally resolved for you!

Just a thought on this one. Perhaps instead of sharing to facebook you could take an approach similar to how uDraw run things.

We recently purchased a uDraw for our daughter and that has the ability to share photos on the web, as long as you set your sharing settings in your XBox live account you can upload images to to www.worldofudraw.com and in-game they give you a 7 character code that you the punch into the web site and you're away. The main issue was in-game when you couldn't upload photos they didn't tell you exactly what setting you needed to change in your profile to get it working (set sharing to public).

Yes it means you need to have your own public infrastructure but worth a thought.

Thanks for sharing that! It's probably too late to get Kinect Party retrofitted with it, but clearly sharing images is going to be something we want to keep exploring going forward. So if we do a new version of KP, or even another title, we'll definitely look into this type of sharing functionality.

Please fix Facebook photo sharing issue! It's impossible to do 2 achievements right now and 100% the game.

You just need to implement updated Facebook mechanics for that and as a programmer I'm sure that that is a matter of few hours. Then - a little title update.

Don't put your good company into a questionable state with a poor support...as far as you just ignored all previous complains. :(

Facebook changed their API and broke the connectivity, sadly this is a thing that will likey never be fixed although if we find the time I'm hoping it can be.

Please fix the Facebook Sharing option, I need the last two Achievements for the completition. I like to play your games but it is sad if you cant fix this, because every one can buy a broken game.

Hey if any of you guys are still reading, I figured out how you can still get the achievements. I thought I had gotten the Facebook achievements years back but it turns out I missed I'm Your Huckleberry.

But what I did was disconnect my router in the middle of the share error code and then the achievement just popped up. I'm not sure at what point you can disconnect it but I did it on the screen where it shows 0x83810899. Then reconnect your router and you're good.

You can't disconnect your internet connection before starting the game however because the share button will not be there.

Just to let you know - this feature will not be fixed, and so sadly will remain broken, sorry about that.
