Writing Update#4: Potential Reds Names Incoming! (Edit: Broken Age wins!)

Recommended Posts

The Cut is okay, but I agree that none of the options actually hit the themes that I'm feeling from what I've seen so far of the game, and from that description. I feel like something like "Another Place" or "Any Other Place" or "Anywhere Else" (the last of which is what I wrote in) would sort of simultaneously convey the idea of having two stories in separate locations, and also each child's aspiration to escape their current location.

I definitely agree with Anywhere Else, that gets my vote.

Ooh, Anywhere Else. I like that one.

I heartily endorse this product and/or service.

Challenge: Come up with a title that doesn't sound like a bad supernatural romance novel.

Extra challenge: Come up with a title which, when googled in quotes, returns less than 1,000,000 results.

"booga tooga goes to toolooga"

you never said it has to do anything with the game.

I voted for Small Offerings with my own suggestion, but after reading this thread I much prefer the titles "Worlds Apart" and "Anywhere Else".

Couple of other ideas off the top of my head:

Quantum Entitlement

Dominion of Fate

Split Sway

Road to Conduct

Quite like Quantum entitlement but dunno how relevant that is :P

Edit: Also only returns 421 results on Google ;)

I put my opinion of A Tale of Two Worlds.

Thought it could be a play on A Tale of Two Cities.

Pretty terrible, but still :P

I have to admit, I do really like that title.

I also didn't like any of the given choices.

Here are a couple of ideas from my brainstorming:

- The Jolt

- To The Stars!

- Starving Monsters And Starships

- Of Monsters And Moons

- A Tale About Teens And Toads

Well... Perhaps I have to explain the toads :-)

There is this saying "You have to kiss a lot of toads before you find a handsome prince". I thought this could be a good allegory for the journey of the two kids seeking for something that is probably hard to achieve.

I'll be honest. I think Reds is a horrible working title and i don't like any of the suggestions either. It kind of reminds me of the episode where Tim Schafer is thinking about tons of names for Grim Fandango and all sound somehow bland or wrong until, well until, he comes up with the right one, Grim Fandango. This right one is still missing here.

I'm waiting for the post from Tim ...

I am a f_cking genius!

too many shallow emo titles

Half the forum agrees, and the other half thinks that would be a cool name.

I suggested the most possible short but fitting title 'Two'

What would you call the sequel? Two 2?

Two: The Second

Two: Revengence

Two 2: Electric Boogaloo

*******UPDATE!!!

All right backers, we have some results. The two most popular names from the original poll are Broken Age and Small Offerings (Broken Age was #1). But there were also some popular suggestions from this thread: The Divide and World’s Apart. So we wanted to have a new poll just between those four options.

Check it out!

Hmmm. Any chance that could be changed to Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) instead? I can't wait for the beta to start and go on this Journey.

The Divide makes me think of the 2011 film, which is recent, but perhaps (or evidently) not popular enough to be an issue to others.

Of the remaining, I'm going for Small Offerings, as it's the only one that seems to fit the whimsy of Bagel's art. The other three seem to be really momentous, classic fantasy names.

But I think it's sort of what you get when you try to come up with a title for that synopsis... which sounds like a remake of one of those dreadful Longest Journey games.

I actually did wonder if "Worlds Apart" was lacking in flavor or charater, but then I remembered "Another World", and figured it would probably work okay.

Did you just suggest that Bagel's artistic contributions are only small offerings?!?! :ahhh:

(Joking)

One thing to consider:

'Worlds Apart' was a terrible French boys band from the 90s.

I like all of these better than most of the other titles. I was thinking Of Ships and Monsters myself.

I know it's a typo but I quite like the implication of "World's Apart" (as opposed to Worlds Apart) though I voted for the latter.

It's also apparently a Jars of Clay song. I'm not religious myself, but I kinda dig it.

I really liked Broken Age, since that is sort of how I felt during those early teenage years that the characters are. I also really like Anywhere Else.

Some ideas:

Crossing the Threshold (like in the monomyth)

Ages of Adventure
