So, was there even any games announced at all? Or was it as disappointing as the PS4 reveal?
PS4 reveal had Knack and Infamous, so it was okay. They also talked about console features related to videogames instead of just Netflix and all that other crap. Microsoft did show off that new Remedy game though. It looks interesting.

Yeah, but the Ps4 reveal only knack had gameplay. Killzone, infamous, that drive club, destiny and every other game there was just cgi trailers that meant nothing. Both seem like pure shit at this point though.

The big thing though, did they say if the xbox live fee will be coming back?

I would assume so. How else are they going to pay for the ESPN service that you never asked for and probably don't even use?

i think i read somewhere that they quietly said they'll have the same subscription model. i can't find the source at the moment though.

it's big money for them though so it would be crazy surprising if they gave it up.

They make insane amounts of money on those obnoxious ads though. They could at least make Live Gold like PS Plus and throw in some free games.

If it was like PS plus I would have no problem paying for some free games and extra stuff. I don't get the ESPN and Netflix being gold only thing though, if people have internet, wouldn't they have some kind of computer that they can use for those things that don't have the extra cost of gold on top of the cost for the internet and netflix itself?

Wow I just caught up-ish and wow.

1. It looks my DVR

2. Xbox One? Isn't it Xbox 3/III? They could have called it the Xbox Trinity and built a whole marketing campaign around the idea of threes.

3. (Snort) Same old song, further crippling the consumer with fees and DRM. Social and Multimedia features are further being focused on as the primary draw rather than a bonus to the excellent gaming hardware and software the system offers.

70% likely to build a gaming PC, 30% likely to buy a PS4, 0% chance of me buying an Xbox Uno... Xbox Uno would have been a better name than the one they gave it!

remember 1 vs. 100? that was cool. if they did more stuff like that a gold subscription would be worthwhile.

Nope.

The European market is too fragmented for that. Localization is too expensive. Licensing fees for every country, translations and whatnot. No Rewards program. Even kinect is region locked. I'm not allowed to talk English to it, but there is no support for Dutch nor French. less apps, no indie. And overal worse localization than playstation or Wii. Yet the price for Xbox live Gold is €60.

The PC Master Race welcomes you. Sure, the initial cost of a gaming PC might turn you off, but Steam games are soo much cheaper.

If MS wants to transition to the digital only model, as physical copies are only used for the initial installation. They'd better adjust prices. I'm not paying €60 for a game I don't own in physical form

I don't have a DVR, set top box or cable subscription whatsoever. there's nothing interesting on TV here, ads, no HBO. I said it a million times before. I download that shit, and will spend money on boxsets.

Xbox Uno would have been a better name than the one they gave it

That reminds me of the early days of Xbox Live where Uno players showed of their junk on camera.

Imagine watching porn with that kinect 2.0 registering everything you do o_O

Two things have been confirmed:

1. You must be connected to the internet once a day to use your XboxOne:

Kotaku: If I’m playing a single player game, do I have to be online at least once per hour or something like that? Or can I go weeks and weeks?

Harrison: I believe it’s 24 hours.

Kotaku: I’d have to connect online once every day.

Harrison: Correct.

http://kotaku.com/xbox-one-does-require-internet-connection-cant-play-o-509164109

2. You can let friends borrow a Xboxone disk, but the borrower MUST pay a fee to play it:

Here's how the system works: when you buy an Xbox One game, you'll get a unique code that you enter when you install that game. You'll have to connect to the Internet in order to authorize that code, and the code can only be used once. Once you use it, that game will then be linked to your Xbox Live account. "It sits on your harddrive and you have permission to play that game as long as you’d like," Harrison said.

Other users on the console will be able to play that game as well, Harrison said. So you don't need to buy multiple games per family. "With the built-in parental controls of the system it is shared amog the users of the device," he said.

But what if you want to bring a game disc to a friend's house and play there? You'll have to pay a fee—and not just some sort of activation fee, but the actual price of that game—in order to use a game's code on a friend's account. Think of it like a new game, Harrison said.

"The bits that are on that disc, you can give it to your friend and they can install it on an Xbox One," he said. "They would then have to purchase the right to play that game through Xbox Live."

I don't like any of this.

I don't like any of this.

That is if your friend borrows your game to play on his console with his account.

I think that you can still acces your game on another console with your own account as long as you are online. like the current xbox360 is doing with DLC.

Now the controlers also do force feedback on triggers

and I guess they include rechargeable battery packs

MS didn't show the actual specs of the system, but the ones that are circulating (the ones that leaked ps4) seems like ps4 is better.

Not really killer better, but better (also, 3 gigas of ram will be used only for the OS).

PS4 or One have better specs?

They're basically the same. 8 core processors and 8GB of ram. I don't know the speed of the cpu's or the gpu's and the ps4 has a different type of ram but I bet the difference in power is negligible.

Dafaq!?

That is due to fact that the XboxOne has THREE OS running at the same time.

Wait, why the heck does it need 3 OS'?

Wait, why the heck does it need 3 OS'?

The latest update out of the currently unfolding announcement in Redmond: the next-generation Xbox will run three operating systems simultaneously. Complementing Windows 8 and RT on PCs and tablets, there'll be a third distinct version of Microsoft's operating system that has been pared down specifically for the new console. This will be the main system OS used to run apps such as Skype and other non-game titles downloaded from the Xbox storefront. At the same time, virtualization technology similar to Microsoft's Hyper-V will be used to allocate the bulk of system resources to a second, dedicated "Xbox OS" when the user loads up a game. This game OS will remain a fixed entity throughout the life of the console, so that game developers can be confident their games will run regardless of how much the Windows side of the machine gets updated. Finally, the third OS sounds like a small layer to assist with the virtualization, allowing the two main personalities of the console to talk to each other. Read on for more.

DDR3 has lower latency when transferring small data, it's also better at running OSes. GDDR5 is faster and can handle higher data transfers

One thing I have to admit is that they did get the controller right. The 360 controller was perfect but for the D-Pad which they claim to have fixed. Otherwise this looks like a 360 controller and that makes me happy. Hopefully it's PC compatible.

What's wrong with the 360's d-pad? I like it a lot actually, and i can't think of a single thing that's wrong with this part.

Also: Forcefeedback is utterly overrated, and pointless in 99% of the games used and more of a distraction that anything, just one more thing that makes it heavier and more expensive. Why would you put it in the triggers in addition to the regular ones? That doesn't make any sense, it's not like you wasn't able to feel it there before.

Excrement! All of it!

No NETFLIX
no HBO

You have neither Netflix nor HBO in Belgium? We got both last year in Norway, but after trying both out for a while I found out I wasn't very satisfied with either. Netflix is mostly crap in Norway (unless you watch the US version through a proxy server (but I prefer using my Wii, since the PC version only works on Windows (fucking Silverlight))). HBO is ok content wise though (they own the rights for most of their stuff themselves I guess), but what annoys the hell out of me with both is that we only got a choice between Norwegian, Danish, Swedish and Finnish for subtitles. You have the English subtitles already, so why the hell don't you offer them to us Scandinavians!? It's really distracting to watch a movie/series in a language you know with subtitles in another language. There's numerous rants about this across Scandinavian forums, but fuck if they listen. They can both go to hell until they fix this.

Excuse me but...

Have you been living under a rock?

Out of the 3 consoles, The X360 D-Pad is universally known as the worst. Very bad response, especially with the diagonal directions. horriblem just horrible as selection wheel in games like Bioshock and Oblivion, and downright unfit for fighting games.

while not necessarily a problem, the analogue stick on the Xbox360 has a larger deadzone, meaning you need to push your stick further and therefore more force to move the object on screen. the PS3's has a much smaller deadzone.

somewhat visual presentation, left would be the X360 analogue thumbstick, right is the PS3's

Netflix is rumoured to come to Belgium this year, after the Netherlands and France. I just got a new wifi router and flashed it with custom DD-WRT firmware so I can traffic everything through foreign IP with VPN.

Wasn't it in Norway where they used subtitles from those translation teams that subbed for illicit content (aka downloading). Not that i'm a big fan of Dutch subtitles either. Most of that is done in the Netherlands and they more than often slip weird "North-Dutch" expressions in their translations. FFS use general Dutch.

Even so, Microsoft itself is lazy at localization. I want my content in English with optional English/Dutch subtitles. Stop shoving French crap in my face.

It's sad that independent subbers do a better and faster job than official channels.

No wonder I prefer torrenting. I can get any content I want. with any subtitle I desire. Spanish family come to visit? They cant watch anything from streaming services as they don't provide Spanish subs nor dubs here. for downloaded content i can easily find subs in 20 or 30 languages.

Looks like next gen is a tv controller paired with a meh pc.

I don't think I'll join it.

Naw. The PS4 actually showed features related to games. Hopefully both will have more games at E3. Still I am not buying Xbox One since I have to connect to the internet to use it. I still don't have my PS3 and 360 connected.
