Video Game Deals

Recommended Posts

There's also a 2K Games weekend, so there's up to 50% off their entire catalogue with a different game/franchise/whatever being even MORE reduced. Today it's 75% off XCOM: Enemy Unknown and the old-school X-COM series.

That reminds me...

Amazon

The new deals of the week are up.

* 75% off XCOM Classics (Steam): $3.75 (includes Apocalypse, Enforcer, Interceptor, Terror from the Deep and UFO Defense)

* 83% off The XCOM Collection (Steam): $9.99 (includes XCOM: Enemy Unknown (w/ Slingshot and Elite Soldier Packs) + everything from the XCOM Classics pack)

* 72% off The Bureau / XCOM EU Bundle (Steam): $24.99

* 75% off XCOM: Enemy Unknown (Steam): $9.99

* 75% off XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Slingshot DLC (Steam): $1.74

* 75% off Xcom Enemy Unknown: Elite Soldier Pack DLC (Steam): $1.24

* 75% off Crysis 3 (Origin): $14.99

* 75% off Dead Space 3 (Origin): $14.99

* 75% off Lume (Steam): $1.74

I definitely recommend Lume at that price. It's a very nice puzzle adventure, but it's just one episode and a tad bit short. And unfortunately it suffers from the same syndrome as The Dream Machine: Creating physical art assets by hand takes a crazy amount of time.

EDIT: I've updated the post with Steam/Origin links, but some of the XCOM collections don't appear to have an equivalent Steam collection, so I assume they include multiple keys.

Did you already own Bioshock 2 on Steam? Because if you did, you now also own the Minerva's Den DLC, free of charge.

That prompted me to give it a try, and it looks like you can now redeem retail copies of BioShock 2 on Steam, and redeeming a retail version gets you Minerva's Den for free.

I think the Steam version doesn't use GFWL at all, so this pleases me.

It does not.

In fact, because GfWL is shutting down, that's why Minerva's Den is now available on Steam - they've switched over to Steamworks.

Minerva's Den is one of the best single player DLC content packs I've ever played.

ShinyLoot

The weekend deals are up, and as usual it's a lot of crap, so I'll do what I usually do and just post the ones that includes keys and anything that looks interesting. If I remember correctly the launch sale ends sometime in October, so this is probably one of the last weekend sales.

* 67% off Micy Roll (Windows/Mac) (Desura): $0.66

* 72% off Crayon Chronicles (Windows): $0.98

* 67% off On A Roll 3D (Windows) (Desura): $0.99

* 67% off They Breathe (Windows): $0.99

* 67% off Zombies Ruined My Day (Windows) (Desura): $0.99

* 75% off Spectraball Extended Edition (Windows/Mac/Linux) (Steam/Desura): $1.25

* 70% off Plazma Being (Windows) (Desura): $1.35

* 70% off Caster (Windows/Mac) (Steam): $1.50

* 70% off Kilgazar (Windows/Mac/Linux) (Desura): $1.50

* 70% off Will Fight for Food (Windows/Linux) (Desura): $1.50

* 75% off The Journey Down: Chapter One (Windows/Mac/Linux) (Steam/Desura): $1.75

* 75% off Children of the Nile Complete (Windows) (Steam): $2.50

* 70% off Desert Stormfront (Windows/Mac/Linux) (Desura): $3.00

* 70% off Cognition Episode 3: The Oracle (Windows/Mac) (Steam): $3.00

* 66% off Way to Go! (Windows/Mac/Linux): $3.40

* 75% off GooseGogs (Windows): $3.75

* 75% off Age of Conquest III (Windows/Mac/Linux) (Desura): $5.00

Will Fight for Food is also in the Not on Steam sale mentioned on the previous page.

You can't buy single episodes of Cognition on Steam, but I think the key enables you shave 25% off the season. At least that was the case when they launched with a 25% discount. Now that it's 50% off, I'm not sure. If you still get 25% + 25% + 16% off with an upgrade from three previously owned episodes that's a total of 116% off.

Since when did they add controller support?

Huh.

It's a Games For Windows title. These have support for the 360 pad.

Were you not paying attention? It's not got GfWL any more!

But yeah, it's always had 360 controller support. They may have tweaked it to allow for other types of controllers when they switched over to Steam though.

Huh.

The controller support was added to Bioshock 2 in the same update that removed GFWL.

Ah okay.

Guys, it didn't always have controller support. Trust me(or it did, it wasn't listed, and it didn't work).

OK, fine, I'LL post these then.

Steam

Today's Two-Day Deal is 66% off Surgeon Simulator 2013, one of those quirky insane little games that Let's Plays simply cannot do justice to no matter how hard they try.

"I recommend it" is basically what I'm trying to say.

The 2K Deal of the Day is Borderlands 2. But not its DLC. What the hell?

Gamefly

Enjoy 75% off a bunch of random franchise bundles.

- Assassin's Creed collection

- Daedelic Adventure bundle

- DoubleFine Adventure bundle (note that none of the games are actual adventure games)

- Telltale Adventure bundle (and most of this one's debatable as well)

- Tomb Raider collection

Get Games

Remember Codemasters? No? Nah, neither do I. Whatever, here's the Codemasters Action Sale.

- 66% off Clive Barker Presents Clive Barker's Jericho (by Clive Barker)

- 66% off Damnation (UT2004 mod turned stand-alone release - and it shows)

- 75% off Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

- 75% off Operation Flashpoint: Red River

- 66% off Overlord

- 66% off Overlord: Raising Hell

- 66% off Overlord II

- 66% off Rise of the Argonauts

Worth noting, Bioshock 2 on Steam now doesn't require Games for Windows Live and has had securom patched out.

Also worth noting, but not related to the sale, all previous owners of Bioshock 2 on Steam got all the DLC patched in for free, and if you had a non-steam retail key (like I did), it will now activate on Steam to allow you to receive all the DLC for free and get the non-GFWL version.

Apparently Arkham City hasn't had GWFL removed yet, from what I can find.

There's a closed beta going on right now that's testing the removal of GFWL and SecuRom from Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.

I have fashioned a very simple rule for myself regarding Magic:

Don't.

I know I'd enjoy it, but I don't have the self-control to add another hobby like that into my life.

The annual computer game releases are by far the most affordable way to enjoy the game.

Buying the cards is a fool's errand, unless you are rich beyond the ability to spend all of your currency.

It is so worth noting that it was noted 2 days ago. But thanks for posting it again on this page.

Gah! I thought I was keeping up with this thread, but I skipped the last page. Sorry. :/

Warframe is really good fun if you haven't checked it out yet. It has some great space ninja action, a really fast pace, and lots of movement abilities (wall running, side dodges, wall jump dashes, slide dashes into a group of enemies with a sword, etc.) It's pretty comprehensive for what I'd want from a ninja sci-fi game.

It's free-to-play, but really doesn't require any investment to have a blast playing it (at least in my opinion), everything but extra weapon/character slots and cosmetic items can be earned in-game. I've been playing it regularly for the last few months, and loving it. The 170 platinum from this bundle would get you a fair number of extra character/weapon slots if you enjoyed playing it.

Just my recommendation, for what it's worth.
