I don't see how this is a puzzle game

Recommended Posts

DF is referring to Dropchord as a puzzle game, but honestly it seems to me more of a music-based arcade sort of game?

Thoughts?

In

, the DF rep describes it as "a music-based score attack game", but later on they do refer to it as a "puzzle action" game.

I can sort of see it as a puzzle, because you have to figure out how to hit the bits on the screen while avoiding the danger bits, or whatever they're called, but it's certainly more action-y.

This is correct.

I think the term, "puzzle game", comes up often because the mechanic of the game is repeatedly reacting to what we refer to as "note patterns". Each of these patterns has it's own solution to it and as you progress, the solutions become trickier and are required to be solved faster.

It's certainly more an arcade game than a puzzle game, though.
