"IN DEFENSE OF "BOOTH BABES" (SORT OF)"- The Big Picture

Recommended Posts

hmm, nothing he said seems that controversial, though i suppose it doesn't hurt to say it again. treat booth babes like people. pretty women can play video games too. the point he made at the end is the one i really wish he expanded on. why do people get so offended by booth babes when they rush to defend games with near-pornographic content?

That was actually a pretty well thought out segment. Good on them for taking a mature route on the subject. Hasn't the practice of having paid spokesodels started to diminish at game conventions as of late or is that not the case? To me personally I feel like if the industry wants to be taken more seriously they should stay away from the spokesmodel /pandering tactics. But who knows if that is indeed the route things will take or if it's the way companies want it to go at all. Maybe videogames shall forever be relegated to being seen as a young person's world and catering to adults might not really seem like a worthy investment. I wonder if I will still be playing games when I'm 50 or will the way that I view things change and maybe I'll give the hobby up. Spike TV still has those videogame award shows, and I cringe to think of how they portray and treat gamers during those things. It seems the industry still might have a ways to go before they can step out of the dude-bro/younger crowd niche it seems to be in now or if they will ever want to.
