Greetings from the Telltale Games forums!

Recommended Posts

This is what saddens me the most: TTG has practically driven away all of it's former formers and swapped them for a bunch of unintelligent noobs that barely know how to speak proper English and are more than likely still prepubescent. I mean, have you guys seen most of the new guys? They piss me off to no end, some of the stuff they put. The only reason I'm still there is because I'm in love with The Wolf Among Us.

Imagine if everything on the forums went back to the way they were and all the new guys were banned forever. That would be great, but things can never go back to the way they were.

I've been visiting every now and then because there are still people there that I like, but I usually just lurk. I got in an argument with one of the new most prominent regulars a couple of days ago though, because he was pissing me off to no end. I had to leave before I lost my cool. So yeah, I know what you mean.

Thanks guys.

I'm not sure what's going on with Vain - he's not been around lately, but I suspect he'll be back for Ep3 of TWD. As far as I'm aware, it's pretty much just Jenni and Blind Sniper now, with one or two Telltale staff also popping in now and then.

I cannot stress enough that, even with all the horrible site changes and the titles that Telltale are making, I'd still be there if it weren't for the vain, obnoxious little sh*ts that are the main source of my hatred for that place. Never in all my life have I seen such a collection of utter dogsh*t than the 'Release Date Discussion' threads... especially of late. I just... threads like that make me weep for the human race.

Well, they already made 36 episodes, so chances are it'll be out on freaking Disney Channel with a year or so.

Is it seriously that bad? I mean I guess we got a taste of it when 3 members decided to go into the suggestions thread in order to start fighting about threads being made etc but has it gotten worse? Is the new regulars that bad?

To be honest, we were rather a bunch of obnoxious little sh*ts, ourselves to a degree.

I don't know, when in the rating threads or any other thread, It seemed more or less in good humor instead of seriously complaining about every aspect although since I wasn't on the forums for S&M Season 3 or anything before that, I'm not sure how things went back then.

Coolsome is like half the reason the place is so fun to hang out at.

I find the randomness to be refreshing.

I like that coolsome brings the random, but that he brings it in a measured amount. Before he actually arrived and we had only his reputation (which actually proceeded him!) for randomness to go on, I was a little worried he might turn into another Kilo/Crunchy type of poster and just use randomness to intentionally irritate others, to derail every thread, and other such "chan humor", but he's been pretty cool. You might even say he's been coolsome.

Well done, Marsden. I know from experience that leaving the post is unimaginably difficult. I seem to recall spending a week working up the nerve and going through one or two rewrites before I handed in my resignation. It's a super hard thing to do, but it's what's best for you in the end, and I'm really proud of you for it.

Also, nice job on the post. It's less diplomatic and more bluntly honest than what I wrote (and I mean that as a compliment), and in some ways it's what I wish I had said when I left.

Oh, and you should expect it to take a while to get used to not being able to edit or delete other people's posts anymore.

That's if he chooses to go back there. And it would be better if he didn't.

No, I meant in general. When I was a mod, I had this problem when I would go to other sites, especially ones that used vBulletin, and it persisted for a while after I left the post. That said, after eight months of that Frankenstein monster Vanilla board, this may not be a problem for him.

Once I'm demodded, I'm closing the tab and moving on.

Since Vain (perhaps correctly) was disappointed I posted my entire leaving message here as well as on Telltale's site, I won't repost the follow-up message I've just spent 20 minutes typing up, but I will say that I place the blame for pretty much everything onto Telltale's management, which, while responsible for some good games, has completely ruined everything else that was good about the company.

Ryan - Imagine pages and pages of this. That's pretty much how bad it's gotten.

Guru - I've been bouncing back and forth between here and Telltale, so I've learned to separate which posts I can edit and which ones I can't. If it's in stripes, it ain't going nowhere. ;)

Seriously though. Chris. Man. Dude.

You do not owe them anything. Anything. They needed your services and rewarded you for such. Transaction complete. It only needs to keep going as long as you want it to. If you no longer enjoy it or feel it is worth your trouble, step down. No one is going to think of you lesser for it, either way. I jest, I tease, I make fun, it's what I do. Honestly though, do whatever you want to do and stand with your decision. Forget about us, this back and forth between what you like, what you want, what you think is right, what you deserve et cetera is just needlessly wearing on yourself.

Someone who literally has a list of aspirations, don't let this internet crap be a weight on you.

Funny how this is a thing going on in that stupid musical I"m doing.

Also, another thing: why do I sorta get the feeling that Guru really doesn't like me?

Well, you DID kill him off in TMM...

And well done Darth. It's always difficult to say goodbye to somewhere you've spent so much time on.

Also, I went looking for your posts saying goodbye, and they don't actually seem to be there... At least they aren't listed in your profile.

I posted them in the mod forum, which is why you can't find them over at TTG. I didn't really feel comfortable discussing something like that in the main section, because the regular users would just tear it to bits. Because they're assholes like that.

You can read my initial "I'm leaving" post at the top of the previous page in this thread, an everything else is... well, just basic "thanks for the support" posts, really. Nothing fancy. Except for this bit, which I'm quite proud of:

I logged on this morning and immediately banned over a dozen spambots with at least 16 threads to their name (with more buried on pages 4+ of TWD section that I just can't be bothered to deal with), took one look at the inane babble that filled my feed and I realised that I really was done with this place. If it goes down, then it does so not because the crew didn't fight to save it - it's because the captain steered the damn thing into an iceberg, and no amount of wooden planks nailed over the holes are going to stop this thing from going under.

So yeah, I'm jumping ship because the passengers are unbelievably unruly, despite the crew doing their best with buckets the place is taking on so much water it's unsalvageable and the journey has simply become intolerable. So I'm grabbing a lifeboat and getting the hell out.

...bet you'll miss my increasingly tortured metaphors. :P

I like stretching metaphors to within an inch of their life. It's both challenging and entertaining. :)

I then went on to say that I don't blame the majority of Telltale, just the management. Y'know, like everyone else.

Yeah, those porn attacks are the one thing that's making me really on the fence about whether to stay or go. I'm really getting sick of, as Darth Marsden said, patching holes in the broken ship. If they get some proper mod tools in there soon (the spam attacks should hopefully rush the release of those tools, so I'm cautiously optimistic we'll get them soon), I don't mind staying (unlike most of you, I still enjoy hanging out in General Chat over there. The best of the new crop seem to be the only ones who hang out there, and I actually like the discussion they have, for the most part).

If things don't improve by the summer though, I'm not sure I'll stick around. Plus, I'm still working on my episodic adventure game, so when I release it I'm not even sure if it would be right to stick around there since it would kind of be a conflict of interest with me making and selling something similar to their older products.

Would any of you mind if I brought my game development blog thread over here? I really want to share my progress, but the new Telltale forum really bummed me out with it's new format, so I stopped (which is the same reason I stopped my Telltale Games replays, which I really should finish posting over here).

So that means with TWD 2, TWAU, GoT, and Bolderlands coming out and likely to bring more of the same from TWD Seasons 1 & 2, and now with Darth gone from TTG (Again congrats on that) so Jen, Vain and Blind Sniper is the only mods left?
